races with a win in the 1953 Peninsula Championship, with four seconds and two thirds in stakes races. He was the 1951 Champion Stallion. His dam was Caroline by Ben Hur and out of a mare by Red Cloud. The other Vessels’ bred runners from this crop include Clabber V, a race winner of three of his four starts. The dam of Clabber V was Red Clouds V, who was the dam of Jeep B, making them full brothers.
Clabbers Lady V, another foal from this crop, was a AAA/ROM mare that had 36 starts with 11 wins, four seconds and six thirds. She set three track records: going 220 yards at Vessels Ranch Racetrack in :12.7; 220 yards at Fairplex Park in :12.400; and 350 yards at Sacramento in :18.400. She was a finalist in the Meteor Handicap and Barbra B Handicap in 1950. Clabbers Lady V is
the dam Triple Lady, the 1959 Champion Three-Year-Old Filly. Triple Lady is the dam of Duplicate Copy, the 1966 and 1967 Champion Aged Stallion. The dam of Clabbers Lady V was Lady Vessels
by Popeye by Apple and Lady Vessels was out of a mare by Apple. Clabberita
V, also from this foal crop by Clabber, is an ROM runner that won three of her seven starts with two seconds. Her dam was Juanita V by Ben Hur and out of Nellie Gray by Uncle Jimmie Gray. Miss Lipstick, from this Clabber foal crop, earned her ROM going to the post 27 times with seven wins, five seconds and six thirds. Her dam was Star Light V by Governor, and she was out of Little Betty by Little Trouble.

Catherine Peake later bought a stallion named Driftwood, a match racehorse and famous roping horse. They bought Driftwood from Ashbury Shell, who bought Driftwood from the Nichols. Clabber and Driftwood were owned by the Nichols at the same time.
Clabber sired 21 foals in his first
crop in California, and one of those was 1951 Bay Meadow Invitational Handicap winner Sight Unseen. He was another AA runner that had 12 starts with two wins, one second and two thirds. He earned $1,177. He was bred by B. J. Reynolds
of Santa Clara, California. His dam was Barbara G by Ben Hur. Ben Hur was sired by Rainy Day and out of Nettie Jacket by Yellow Jacket and her dam was Nettie Harrison, a full sister to Jenny, the dam of Possum. The dam of Barbara G was Maude by Red Cloud by Possum.
Clabbertown G stood out in this crop of Clabber’s runners. He was a stakes winner as a finalist in 14 stakes
and a third. She was the dam of Scoop Bam, winner of the Las Vegas Stakes. There is a famous article about the Milk Race at Los Alamitos Race Course in which the foals were separated from their dam for a time and then let loose to run down the track to nurse their dam. It was her first race and she won. Scoop Bam is the dam of Scooper Chick, who set two New World Records, one at Los Alamitos going 400 yards in a time of :19.88 and one at Pomona going 350 yards in :17.77. Clabbers Lucky V was out of Lucky Lady V by Lucky by Possum, and she was out of Chappa by Red Bug.
Jim Harkey was a Texas horseman who moved from Texas to Arizona,
and two of his mares were Do Good
and her dam Flossie. Do Good, bred by Harkey, was foaled in 1938. She was by St Louis by Eck Davis TB. The dam of St Louis is Old Flossie by Dewey TB. The dam of Old Flossie is Old Queenie. The dam of Do Good is Little Flossie, who became Flossie when she was registered. Flossie is by Duggan by Baby and out
of Old Flossie. The dam of Flossie is Old Floridene by Harmon Baker, who is by Peter McCue and out of Nona P. The dam of Old Floridene is Little Dutch by Clay McGonigal. The dam of Little Dutch is
Old Dutch. This gives Do Good a breeding pattern of 3x4x4 to Old Dutch as well as showing “inbreeding to a superior female.”
1959 Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Triple Lady is out of Clabbers Lady V by Clabber.
1966 and 1967 Champion Aged Stallion Duplicate Copy is out of Triple Lady.
