Mr Eleanor made it look effort- less as he scored his first stakes win in the $40,206 Alberta Stallion
Stakes Futurity at Northlands Park
on July 19. Despite the hazy weather, Mr Eleanor had his sights fixed on the finish line as he broke from the inside gate in the lead under jockey J. Botello. Racing for owner/breeder Teagan Goodsell and trainer Allen Goodsell, Mr Eleanor was never headed. The gelding had a 1 1/2-length lead at the first call & crossed the wire an impres- sive 2 1/2-lengths in front.
The 2-year-old bay gelding clocked in with a time of :16.691, posting a career-best 103 speed index. Mr Eleanor took home the
$18,462 winner’s share of the purse, boosting his lifetime earnings to $22,639. He has won or placed in three of his four starts.
Teagan bred Mr Eleanor in Lethbridge, AB, Canada, out of unraced Lets Get Going, a half-sister to Creston Goer, winner of the 2012 Kaweah Bar Handicap-G3, and Go And Dash, runner up in the 1999 California Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG2. Lets Get Going has produced 100% winners from two starters, including graded stakes placed Kiddys Down. Mr Eleanor is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Rider Scott Sterr and Alberta Krome (Sizzlin Red Corona-Cleats
Rockette) rallied late for a second place finish for owner/trainer William Leech and co-owner Edward Vanee.
Thisbudsforyou (Streakinisanattitude-Highnest TB) ran a steady race for a third place finish under jockey Blandford Stewart for owner Delton D. Gehring and trainer George Scott.
Effort And Speed (Its All About Speed-Leaderoftheclass 103) fin- ished fourth, followed by Miracle Candy Girl (Miracle Recovery- Shes My Candy Girl), Streaken Lady (Streakinisanattitude-Rocky Mountain Lady), and Royal Northfork (Streakinisanattitude- Royal Knockout).
