Country Boy 123 added to his impressive record with his vic- tory in the $33,947 All Canadian
Classic on Sept. 18 at Ajax Downs. Country Boy 123 broke on top from the 4-gate and stayed in the
lead at every call of the 350-yard race. Up by just a nose as he entered the stretch, Country Boy 123 gained some separation late, reach- ing the wire sporting a 1-length margin of victory.
Trained by Bryn Robertson, Country Boy 123 completed the trip in :17.330, registering a 109 speed index. Cory Spataro, who has ridden the 4-year-old gelding in all of his stakes victories, was in the irons once
again as Country Boy 123 ran to the fourth stakes win of his career, with all of those at Ajax Downs. The geld- ing reached the winner’s circle for the 10th time in 17 lifetime starts, with the $12,202 payday increasing his earnings to $134,563.
Carolyn Bay bred both Country Boy 123 and his dam, 2008 Texas Distaff Challenge-G3 winner Very Dashin 123. The mare has produced 100% earners from four starters. Country Boy 123, who is owned by Ruth K. Barbour, is the top earner and first stakes winner of the brood.
Robertson also trains second place finisher One Famous Glass (One Famous Eagle-Quick Glass). Carol
Robertson, Jaime Robertson and Dr. Charles Hall own the 7-year-old geld- ing, who was ridden by Tony Phillips. Panther Hero (Valiant Hero-Rona Mountain) finished third for owner John Wilson and trainer Richard Kennedy. Cassandra Jeschke drew
the riding assignment. The remain- ing order of finish was Fiesty Icon (Sugarman Perry-Fiesty Spirit), Seis Zoom (Tres Seis-Eazoom), Selective Memory (Sixes Royal-Is It Memorex), Fast Man Vic (Mighty Invictus- Precious Debutante), Alakazaam (Mezoomn-Corona Deluxe), Countrys Comin Bac (Country Chicks Man- Bac To Center) and Runaway Cause (Ocean Runaway-The Just Cause).
