Keener also played a role in Yother acquir- ing Tarish from his breeder, William E. Smith. Keener and Smith live close by, and Keener told Yother about the young colt as far back as when he was still weening.
“He (Keener) really thought a lot of the horse and thought he’d make a good race- horse,” Yother recalled. “It all kind of came together.”
Smith bred Tarish out of Fast Prize Zoom, who won the 2008 West Texas Futurity-G1 where she set a New World Record. The mare is a full sister to the dam of All American Futurity-G1 final- ist Apolltical Chad, who won the Ruidoso Futurity-G1 and Texas Classic Derby-G1. Fast Prize Zoom is also a half-sister to Remington Park Futurity finalist-G1 Fast Prize Doll, who ran third in the Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity-G3; as well as Fast Prize Country, who was runner-up in the Dastardly Desert Dash Stakes.
Fast Prize Zoom has produced 100% money earners from 20 starters. Her top money earner is Jess Prize Me, winner of the West Texas Futurity-G2 and a finalist in the Hobbs America Futurity-G2. Tarish becomes the second stakes winner in the brood.
Tarish’s second dam is Heritage Place Futurity-G1 winner Fast First Prize, who
was also a finalist in the Texas Classic Futurity-G1.
Might more stakes wins be in the future for Tarish? Yother said another start or two could be in the works before 2019 ends, but the long-term plan for the gelding is to have him ready for Remington Park in 2020 as a four year old.
Each of the other two horses who hit the board are trained by R.L. Robinson.
Americas Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Marys Southernpolicy) finished second for owner Dunn Ranch with Agustin Silva in the irons. The filly was a runner-up in the Oklahoma Derby-G3 earlier this year as well as a third place finisher in the Mr Master Bug Stakes in April.
Third placed finisher Saratoga Return (High Rate Of Return-Johns Party Girl)
is owned by Marili Mendez. Jockey Mario Delgado got the riding call. The filly previ- ously finished third in the Jack Brooks Stakes in May. She was also a finalist in the Oklahoma Derby-G3 and Mr Master Bug Stakes earlier this year. Last year she won the FL Lady Bug Stakes Division 2.
Tac N Dale (Prospect To The Top-Docs Dusty Dale) finished in fourth position and was followed by JA B Valiant (Mighty B Valiant-Ja Impetuously), Dynasty First Class
(FDD Dynasty-A Cartel Fling), Rundown (PYC Paint Your Wagon-First Prize Habit), Docs Kansas Rep (Louisiana Senator-Docs Dynasty 123), Watah Litical Jess (Apollitical Jess-Lotawatah) and Valiant High (Valiant Hero-Also A High).
