       Bigg Daddy & G.R. Carter Jr. make a wire-to-wire 2 3/4-length run
Race record: 7-4(1)-1-1(1) Day 2, Race #7
Racing in the 7th trial on
the 2nd day, Bigg Daddy de- stroyed the competition when he posted a 2 3/4 length win under all-time leading Quar- ter Horse jockey G.R. Carter Jr. “Wow,” Carter said after the race. “I didn’t even turn the whip around until 150 yards from the finish. I could tell that he was just eating up
ground.” Starting from post 2, Bigg Daddy had the call from start to finish as the heavy favorite. The gelding, trained by Wes Giles for owner Too For Two, drew off to win in :21.611, posting the fastest overall qualifying time. Too For Two is a partnership of 9 people, including Melvin Neugebauer, who also owns qualifier Uptown Dynasty. Giles also trains Uptown Dynasty. The All American trial was the 1st time Bigg Daddy, a New Mexico-bred gelding, had faced open company. Bred by Mac & Janis Murray’s MJ Farms, he previously ran 8th in the New Mexican Spring F.-RG2, then was 3rd in the Mountain Top F.-RG3 and won the Zia F.-RG1. He carried a record of 3 wins, 1 second and 1 third from 6 starts into the All American trials. Bigg Daddy is by Big Daddy Cartel & out of 2009 AQHA Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Alice K White. He is a 1/2-brother to 2015 AQHA Champion 3-Year-Old Filly As- tica. His 2nd dam is Champagne Lane, who also produced Kendall Jackson, a Grade 1 stakes winner who set a 440-yard New World Record.

Shakem Bye Perry & Omar Reyes draw clear for a 1 1/4-length victory
Race record: 7-2-1-1(1) Day 1, Race #6
Shakem Bye Perry was
in the right race at the right time and came through with the fastest qualifying time in the first day of trials. Shakem Bye Perry raced in the sixth trial, when the track was listed as fast with a 4 mile
per hour tailwind. The rain started as Shakem Bye Perry left the winner’s circle, and the sixth trial was the last that
would benefit from a tail wind that day. Ridden by Omar Reyes, Shakem Bye Perry loaded into post position three for his first Ruidoso Downs appearance. He was impressive in his mountain-top debut, breaking fifth and quickly stealing the lead. He held fellow qualifier Believe Me Irene at bay throughout the 440 yards, winning by 1 1⁄4-lengths in a time of :21.664. Pedro Lopez saddled Shakem Bye Perry for owner Jose J. Espinoza. Starting his career in Texas, Shakem Bye Perry gained momentum slowly, breaking his maiden in his fourth start. He advanced quickly from there, qualifying for and finishing third in the TQHA Sale Futurity-RG3. “He did well at Retama,” said owner Espinoza. “In the futurity, he broke last and was bumped hard. He came from last to third. We knew we had a horse that would like 440 yards.” Shakem Bye Perry was bred in Texas by Garlyn O. Shelton. Sired by First Prize Perry, he is out of the winning Dashin Bye mare Shakem Bye si 97 ($21,355). His second dam is a sister to Grade 1 stakes-placed Shake A Special Star si 93 ($39,209).
