Prorodeo Hall of Fame 2018 induction Class
The 2018 induction ceremony for the ProRodeo Hall of Fame will take place Aug.
4 at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colorado. For just the second time in the history of the ProRodeo Hall of Fame, barrel racers from the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) will be among the inductees, including individuals Kristie Peterson and Billie McBride, as well as equine inductee French Flash Hawk. Four-time World Champion Peterson and her horse French Flash Hawk, aka Bozo, will enter
the Hall together, and four-time WPRA Champion McBride will be inducted posthu- mously, having passed away at the age of 90 on May 10, 2017.
2017 AQHA/wPrA Horse of the Year
Rafter W Minnie Reba (Ks Cash N Fame- Espuelo Roan, Blue Like Ike), aka Sister, was voted the 2017 AQHA/WPRA Horse of the Year by the top 25 members in the WPRA. The 2008 blue roan mare was bred, raised and trained by the Sam Williams family. Rafter W Minnie Reba earned rider Nellie Miller her second trip to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo last year.
2017 nBHA world Champions
17-year-old Rylee Elliott of Williston, Florida, was crowned the 2017 NBHA World Champion at the 25th annual National Barrel Horse Association World Championship Show on Nov. 4, 2017. Riding homebred 2013 filly Super De Shine (BHR Frenchies Socks-Kas Shes De Lucks, Super De Kas), aka Shiney, Elliot placed in the top five fol- lowing the first round, and the duo clocked
a :15.181 in the second round to secure her spot in the finals. Elliot posted the fastest run of the weekend at :14.743 to take the championship title.
national Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame Heralds 2017 inductees
The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame 42nd Annual Induction Ceremony was held Nov. 21, 2017, inducting five women cho- sen because their lives exemplify the courage, resilience and independence that helped shape the American West. The inductees were Mary Burger, Ashley Collins, Margaret McGinley Dickens, Reba McEntire and Jacqueline Smith McEntire.

Pink Buckle world Championship
The Pink Buckle World Championship Barrel Futurity & Open (PBWC) will be held Oct. 5-7 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The event expects a total payout of $5 million. Michigan slide to rein in Cancer
The Michigan Reining Horse Association will host the Michigan Slide In on June 8-10. The event will include a silent auction, an egg and spoon race, a pink hopper pony Calcutta, and pink puppy races. Proceeds will go to

world’s richest one-day rodeo, was held
Feb. 25 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. During this annual event, qualifying individuals who advanced to the Semi-Finals competed against top athletes from the PRCA, PBR and WPRA in seven different events. The American is the only time the champions of these professional organizations can be seen at one event. Three individu-
als each took home $433,333, $100,000 for winning their respective event and an additional $333,333 each after splitting the $1 million side pot 3ways: four-time PRCA World Champion Kaycee Feild (bareback riding), six-time NFR qualifier Matt Reeves (steer wrestling), and ERA Champion Cort Scheer (saddle bronc). Invitee’s Taci Bettis (barrel racing), Junior Nogueira and Kaleb Driggers (team roping), reigning PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood (bull riding),
and defending American Tie-Down Roping Champion Mary Yates each earned
$100,000 checks.
BFA world Championship Moving to Lazy e Arena
The BFA World Championship will held
be at Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, in 2019, 2020 and 2021. In 2019, the dates for the Championship will be Nov. 15-24. To facilitate the move, the futurity horse eligibility date will be Nov. 15, because foals born in 2016 shall not compete in a barrel racing event prior to Nov. 15, 2019. Among the considerations for the BFA Board decision to move to the Lazy E Arena were expanded move-in time, increased added money, facility readiness, and no conflict with Wrangler National Finals Rodeos.
Honor thy Frenchman Dies
Two-time National Finals Rodeo quali- fier and former NFR Arena Record Holder Honor Thy Frenchman (Frenchmans Feature-Honey Ofa Jet, Jet Of Honor), aka Bo, died after sustaining an injury in the American Semi Finals. Taylor Jacob’s 2005 gelding was bred by Ronnie and Martha Shomaker, was trained and campaigned by Marne Loosenort for Danny Kingins before being sold to Angela Mikles. Jacobs pur- chased Bo in the fall of 2011. Bo’s lifetime earnings are more than $400,000.
reds western native Dies
Reds Western Native (On The Money Red-Fols Native Bird, Fol’s Native TB) passed away on Jan. 18 of an apparent heart attack. The black 1998 stallion was the 2002 NBHA National Champion, the Run for the Diamonds Champion, winner of the 2003 Houston Livestock Show, a 3-time State Champion, a multiple 1D Champion, and was on the AQHA Top Ten in the World list. His foals are winning in the barrel circuit and include Reds Flyinbyu, Golden Ratio and Natives Okie Rose, as well
as 2017 PRCA Texas Circuit qualifier and 2018 The American qualifier Flashy Red Flame.
