  Lineage Championship-rG3
MIrACLe Snow
by John Moorehouse
Someone forgot to tell Miracle Snow about the concept of slowing down with age. Melvin and Mary Neugebauer’s home-bred 8-year-old gelding scored a hard-charging victory in the $50,000 Lineage Quarter
Horse Championship-RG3 on Aug. 26 at
The Downs at Albuquerque. Miracle Snow won that event for the second time, setting a stakes record and earning $30,000 to swell his bankroll to $452,382.
All three of Miracle Snow’s stakes wins have come during Lineage Day cards at Albuquerque, including the 2007 Hard Twist Stakes and the 2010 Lineage Championship.
Trainer Wes Giles prepped Miracle Snow for this trip, which the gelding completed in :19.290. That time is seven-thousandths of a second faster than the
time logged by Champion Gotta Get in this race in 2007.
Miracle Snow battled In Famous Caper
for the lead for the majority of the 400 yards, and those two horses had separated themselves from the rest of the field by the time they entered the stretch. At that same juncture, Miracle Snow trailed by 1 1/2 lengths, but jockey Jorge Bourdieu urged one last rally out
of the gelding and he reached the finish line first by a neck.
The Neugebauers also own Snow Peak, the dam of Miracle Snow. The 1998 mare was sec- ond in the 2001 Auld Lang Syne Handicap at Los Alamitos, and is a half-sister to graded stakes winner Winning Rhythm and Grade 1 winner Pip Pip. Miracle Snow is Snow Peak’s only starter from two foals. His second dam is multiple Grade 1 winner Sompinlikaglass.
In Famous Caper was disqualified from second to fourth after a stewards’ inquiry. That bumped up De Genuine Queen to the runner- up spot and Klassic Strawfly to third. Santa
Fe Horse Racing by Carrillo’s LLC owns De Genuine Queen (Genuine Strawfly-Queen Of Soul), who is trained by Arnoldo Carrillo and had Jaime Leos in the irons. Klassic Strawfly (Genuine Strawfly-A Classic Song), the pre- race favorite at less than even money, is owned and trained by Ronald Stephens. Macario Rodriguez did the riding.
In Famous Caper (Dash Ta Fame- Capercaillie), Stel Gone Corona (Stel Corona- Meter Her Gone), Cowboy Got Game (Rabbits Rainbow-Cowgirl Cadilac) and Flashproof (First To Flash-Merry Yankee) completed the field. CP Lawman and Love Me Caliente were scratched.

 Pelican Stakes-rG3
CALL Me A BLAzn ChIC
by John Moorehouse
Call Me A Blazn Chic won two very lucra- tive futurities last year. The 3-year-old filly showed that fantastic form on Aug. 26 at
The Downs in Albuquerque, making a move late to win the $50,000 Pelican Stakes-RG3. Owned by J and M Racing and Farm,
Call Me A Blazn Chic notched her fourth win in 12 lifetime starts, and her first of the year. The filly’s list of past conquests includes last year’s running
of the Zia Futurity-RG1
and New Mexico Classic Futurity-RG2, two victories that combined to bring in more than $340,000. They represent the bulk of a career bankroll that, with the addi- tion of the $27,500 payday from this race for 3-year-old New Mexico-bred fillies, now stands at $438,535.

Chic spent most of the 400 yards running
a close second behind Gotloveifyouwantit. During the stretch, however, Esgar Ramirez urged Call Me A Blazn Chic into a late surge,
and the favorite reached the finish line first by a neck. Alejandro Sanchez saddled Call Me A Blazn Chic, who completed the 400 yards in :19.415.
Bred by Mike Abraham, Call Me A Blazn Chic already has eclipsed the bankroll achieved
by her dam, Willie Call Me, and cemented herself as the mare’s top earner. However, Willie Call Me still holds more total stakes victories— five as part of a 10-2-2 record in 26 career outs. Of Willie Call Me’s eight starters from 12 offspring, five have hit the board in stakes company at least once. The other stakes winner in the group is Makin Willies, a half-brother to Call Me A Blazn Chic.
Jesus Marquez owns and trains Gotloveifyouwantit (Genuine Strawfly-Sinn Bug Special), whose career earnings reached six figures with her runner-up finish. Macario Rodriguez did the riding. Sanchez also prepped Wish You Had One To (Stel Corona- Devons Wish), who finished third for her owners at Royal Dream Ranch, LLC. Felipe Garcia-Luna was aboard.
The remaining order of finish was My
Soul Mate (Chicks A Blazin-Love At First Glance), Jesses Pot Of Gold (Jesse James Jr-Luck N Romance), Sparklin Royal (Sixes Royal-Sparkling Ojos), Two Bit Corona (Corona Caliente-Two Bit Fly), Riata Special (Famous Lane-Proud To Be Proudest), Independent Princess (Sixes Royal-Idoitmyself TB) and Miss Two Twenty (Genuine Strawfly- Silvered Shadow).
