Alberto Bailleres Clasico: Select Auction Futurity Consolation
BY JESS HORSE
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Eduardo Silveyra
Acompetitive group of 10 runners disputed the prize of the Select Auction Futurity Consolation, amounting
to $681,270 pesos (approx.
US $34,780), where Purina Mexico contributed 13%.
Widely favorite in the bet- ting was By Jess Horse, having qualified with the second best time of :17.229 in the trials, and also because in his record he already won the Garañones Futurity and finished second in the Mexico Futurity.
At the start of this race,
Michoacana One (#5) was
at a disadvantage because La
Whistlin Corona (#4) and Aint
Your Horse (#6) closed her
out and cut off all competitive
advantage. Meanwhile on the right side of the track, Jess Danny (#10) drifted sharply towards the outer rail. Very close to the inner rail, Taliban Chicks (#2) put himself in front of the group
very quickly, until By Jess Horse (#3) passed him a few yards from the finish-line, leaving him in
second place by a neck’s difference. For this By Jess Horse finished in :17.18 (SI 91) under the good direc- tion of José Ángel Ambrosio Medina, his rider.
In this way, the son
of Sea Horse Corona and out of Feature Bye Jess (by Dashin Bye) carried out the forecast of the fans and returned to the winner’s circle for the fourth time in his six outings at the track, adding $340,635 pesos ($17,390 US approx.) to his earnings account, which is already close to 3
million pesos.
Raised by Salomé Gallegos in the State of
Chihuahua, By Jess Horse is owned by Cuadra El Manantial, trained by José Ángel Santos
Zamudio, and was saddled by José Eduardo Baltazar Carmona. He qualified to this race after running in the tenth qualifying race on Aug. 24, where he finished second behind Chispita Two.
The grey colt Taliban Chicks (Allens Cash- Miss Chicks Perry) took second place under
the direction of Rogelio Sáenz. He was bred by Benjamín Murillo for his Cuadra Quinta Marian and was saddled by Guillermo Navarrete Rizo.
Third position went to the grey colt Bourbon Eagle (Jabuti Eagle-Bourbon Street Dolly)
under the command of José Manuel Cisneros for Cuadra López. He was bred by Loewen Whileim and was saddled by Saúl Pérez Robredo.
Also having participated: Sea Mighty (Sea Horse Corona–Mighty Zoom), Hot Dragon (Zulu Dragon–Marjale Goes Hot), Aint
Your Horse (Sea Horse Corona–Aint Yours), CCorona de Dinastia (First Dinastia–Halfpast Aheartbreak), Jess Danny (Danny Cartel–After Hours Affair), LA Whistlin Corona (Corona Silver–Whistlin Runaway) and Michoacana One (Bullish One–Michoacana First).
