Breeder: Gary D. Nesbitt Owner/Trainer: Gerardo Ochoa-Pena Jockeys: Joe Ruiz and Jacky Martin 2011 Record: 6-3(2)-2(2)-1(1),
$322,320, 1st Remington Park Invitational Championship-G1, Sunland Park Championship Challenge-G2, 2nd Bank of America AQHA Challenge Championship-G1, KOFX-FM Handicap-G3, 3rd The Championship At Sunland Park-G1
Rylees Boy was one of three horses to earn the title of Supreme Racehorse in 2011, and was the only one to earn a champi-
onship title as well. His Supreme Racehorse award was bestowed when he met the criteria
of earning more than $500,000, winning two or more Grade 1 races and at least 10 races. He accomplished the feat with his second career Grade 1 win in the Remington Park Invitational Championship-G1 on May 28. His champion- ship was awarded in the Aged Gelding category after a season that saw him win three of six starts including two stakes races.
Owned and trained by Gerardo Ochoa- Pena, Rylees Boy came into his own as a four-year-old in 2009. He set two track records in Arizona that year and earned $166,778, a figure he has surpassed in each subsequent year. In 2010 he earned $207,427; In 2011
he earned $322,320. He was also named the West/Southwest Hi-Point Aged Gelding by the AQHA in 2009, as well as earning his Superior.
As a six-year-old in 2011, Rylees Boy
truly shined, making six well-planned starts
to win the Remington Park Invitational Championship-G1 and the Sunland Park Championship Challenge-G2. He was second by a neck to Champion Aged Stallion nominee Favorite Cartel in the Bank of America AQHA Challenge Championship-G1, and bypassed the Champion of Champions-G1 to score
a close third-place finish behind eventual World Champion Cold Cash 123 in The Championship at Sunland Park-G1 on Dec.31 in El Paso.
All told, Rylees Boy never finished lower than third in six starts in 2011, including five stakes races. The gelded son of Heza Motor Scooter earned $322,320 last year to increase his career total to $711,481.
Bred by Gary Nesbitt in Tucson, Arizona, Rylees Boy is the first Champion for his sire, Heza Motor Scooter, and is one of three winners for his dam, the Rocky Jones mare Pipistrelle.
Rylees Boy scores a 1 1/4-length victory in the Grade 2 Sunland Park Championship Challenge.
