ROCK A BILLY

Rock A Billy reigned supreme in the $50,000 King Rick Rack Stakes at Zia Park on Dec. 2, pulling away to win by a commanding 2-lengths.
A distance specialist, Rock A Billy has notched
all four of his stakes wins at 870 yards. In this one, the gelding broke second from the 4-gate, was running third at the first call and then overtook
his rivals to lead by a 1/2-length margin going into the stretch. Rock A Billy drew clear late to win by 2-lengths, finishing his 870-yard trip in :45.596 for a 96 speed index.
Tammy Johnson trains Rock A Billy, who had Paul Nieto in the irons. The veteran gelding was mak- ing his 12th start of the year—his busiest campaign yet—and has compiled a 36-10(4)-4(1)-4 record.
The five-year-old, who was home-bred by Rockin J Running Horses, logged his fourth win in 870-yard stakes company. His other stakes wins include this year’s Will Rogers Distance Challenge and the 2017 Bill Reed Memorial and Albuquerque Distance Challenge. The $30,000 payday from this race sent Rock A Billy’s lifetime earnings to $169,631.
Rockin J Running Horses bred Rock A Billy out of 2-time winner Imaginiff, dam of 100% winners from three starters, including 4-time stakes winner and top earner Jess A Hilbilly Bone. Rock A Billy is her second stakes winner.
Executive Trust (Executive Menace-Entrust) finished second under Enrique Garcia for owner Sherree Meridyth and trainer Guadalupe Munoz, Jr. Funny Munny (Munnings TB-Fodice) and Francisco Amparan were third for owner Leann Archuleta
and trainer Adam Archuleta. Followed by Stolis

ZOOMIN FOR GRACE

Zoomin For Grace picked a fine time to post the biggest performance of his career, winning the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic-RG2 at Fair Grounds on Dec. 8.
The lightly-raced five-year-old gelding was mak- ing just the 11th out of his career, but he improved to 4(1)-2-1(1) in 11 starts while logging his first victory in stakes company. He won by a commanding 2 3/4-lengths on a sloppy track, breaking on top from the 9-gate and bursting away from the rest of the field. Zoomin For Grace led by 1-length at the first call and remained ahead by daylight to the wire.
Under J.R. Ramirez, Zoomin For Grace com- pleted the 440 yards in :21.731 for a 98 speed index.
Owned by Belinda Arriaga and trained by Alberto Solis, Zoomin For Grace improved his total earnings to $109,680 with this $45,000 payday.
Julien R. Stevens III bred Zoomin For Grace out of lightly raced Fire And Grace. She has produced 100% winners from three starters, including 2-time winner JRS Special Grace. Zoomin For Grace is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Lightemupwithcharm finished second under Luis Vivanco for owner Saul Dorado and trainer Miguel Rodriguez. Heza Louisiana Dash (Heza Fast Dash-Eyejesslovelouisiana) and Gilbert Ortiz placed third for owner TM Ranch and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr.

JLS DASH N FIRE

JLS Dash N Fire secured the second stakes win of his career on Dec. 8, taking the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Derby-RG3 at Fair Grounds Race Course.
Prepped by Champion trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr., JLS Dash N Fire got a 1/2-length lead by the first call, maintained that advantage going into the stretch, and held off Ho Lotta Game to win by a neck.
Under rider John Hamilton, the gelding finished the 400-yard trip in :20.286, registering a 91 speed index on a sloppy track while running into a 15 mph crosswind.
Owned by TM Ranch, JLS Dash N Fire already had black type, winning in last year’s running of the Louisiana Bred Laddie Futurity-RG2. The $45,000 payday from this victory pushed the gelding’s life- time earnings to $206,890.
JLS-Speedhorse Ranch Inc. bred JLS Dash N Fire out of 3-time winner Psalmist. She has produced 100% money earners from 10 starters, including Champion JLS Mr Bigtime. JLS Dash N Fire is her third stakes winner.
Ho Lotta Game (Game Patriot-Ho Lotta Speed) and Noe Castaneda were second for owners Orlando Orozco & Rogelio Leyva and trainer Eduardo Morales.
A Nother Zoobilee (Dashin Bye-Our Precious Secret) was third under Jose Rodriguez for owner Keithon Roberts and trainer Orlando Orozco.
