The first few days of August, 1981, proved to be very eventful for the family of the Thoroughbred stallion Bold And Brave. On the second day of the month his Quarter Horse granddaughter, Bold Love, won the $145,880 World’s Championship Classic at Ruidoso Downs, and a matter of hours later
it was announced that his Thoroughbred daughter Bold ‘n Determined, a six-time Grade 1 winner of such notable races as the Kentucky Oaks, was being retired.
Thelma Spencer’s Bold Love moved to the front of the New Mexico aged mare division in 1981 with her head conquest over Luck’s Gay Chick in the World’s Championship Classic. The daughter of the Bold And Brave son Bold Moon covered the quarter mile in :21.94 while facing a headwind.
Bold Love has a sensational speed index of 113 which she earned while winning her West Texas Derby trial in 1980 at Sunland
