Ryon is the sire of runners that have earned nearly $10 million. His leading money winner was Avison with earnings of $293,667.
Ronas Ryon was sired by Windy Ryon. Windy Ryon put together a modest race record with five wins in 15 starts and no stakes wins, but a second in the State Fair Stallion Stakes. He did qualify for the Rainbow Futurity, outrunning Chick Called Sue, in the trial. She would come back and defeat him in the finals.
Windy Ryon was the product of one of
the most famous partnerships in modern Quarter Horse racing. He was bred by the King Ranch/B. F. Phillips partnership that
bred Dash For Cash and Some Kinda Man. Phillips and Robert J. Kleberg Jr. formed the partnership that led to Phillips using King Ranch bred mares to produce quarter running horses. Most of the mares were Thoroughbreds, but Silent Light, the dam of Windy Ryon, was a Quarter Horse mare bred by the King Ranch. She was sired by Dividend, a Phillips Ranch stallion, and out of Lantana Belle, a King Ranch bred Thoroughbred mare.
Three-time AQHA Racing World Champion Go Man Go was the sire of Windy Ryon. Go Man Go was sired by Top Deck and he was out of Lightfoot Sis by Very Wise TB.
Dividend, the sire of Silent Light, was
a son of Depth Charge and he was out of Diamond Chick by Chicaro TB. Lantana Belle, the dam of Silent Light, was sired by Beau Max and her dam Lantana Queen was sired by Depth Charge. This gives Silent Light a breeding pattern of 2 X 3 to Depth Charge. Border Jane by Chicaro was the dam of Lantana Belle. When they bred Border Jane to Depth Charge they got Brigand, a 3-time Champion Quarter Running Gelding. Anaqua, a full sister to Lantana Belle, was the dam of Some Kinda Man.
Windy Ryon is the sire of foals that have won $5,225,990 on the racetrack. His leading money winner is Ronas Ryon. He sired two AQHA racing champions - Ronas Ryon
and Yankee Win, the 1982 AQHA Racing Champion Two-Year-Old Filly. Windy Ryon sired 22 performance point earners, including Crystals Ryon, the 2005 AQHA World Champion Youth Barrel Racing Champion.
The dam of Ronas Ryon was Rona Bar, a mare that had 15 wins including stakes wins in the Florida QHA Derby and the Pompano Park Derby. She was the dam of 10 foals with nine starters and eight ROM. She was the dam of two stakes winners in Ronas Ryon and Some Kinda Bargain, who was sired by Some Kinda Man.
The sire of Rona Bar was Three Bargains, a son of Three Bars, and he was out of Little
Depth Charge is in the pedigree of Firewaterontherocks through Silent Light, who is double bred to Depth Charge. The dam side pedigrees of many of Firewaterontherocks’ foals also have connections to Depth Charge, thus giving them blood affinities to the World Champion sire.
Marina Adams by Joe Moore. Little Marina Adams was out of Marina by Chicaro Bill, who was sired by Chicaro and out of Verna Grace by Little Joe.
The dam of Rona Bar was Sand Juana. This mare was unraced and the dam of only one ROM runner from three starters on the track - the ROM was Rona Bar. The pedigree of Sand Juana takes us to some interesting blood in the pedigree of Firewaterontherocks and back to the King Ranch. The sire of
Sand Juana was Sanddrift by Wimpy P-1, the famous King Ranch stallion. Sanddrift, a King Ranch bred stallion, was out of La Tachita
by Naughty Boy III by the Thoroughbred Naughty Boy II. The dam of Naughty Boy
III was Toalla by Martin’s Best, another Thoroughbred used on the King Ranch
The dam of Sand Juana was Boma Paprika by Chester Brown, who was sired
by Chester B by Chubby P-656. Molly O’d was the dam of Chester Brown. She was sired by King George by the King Ranch stallion Little Richard P-17 and out of Cardinal’s Daughter by Cardinal.
The dam of Boma Paprika was Pete’s Spice, a mare by Rey who is the sire of Frontera Sugar, the dam of Sugar Bars. The dam
of Pete’s Spice was a mare that was named Palomino D O. She was registered as sired
by a son of Ben Hur. The dam of Palomino D O was a Reynolds Mare whose breeding is unknown. It has been shown by interviews in early editions of Speedhorse that Ralph Eagle, who was involved with many of these horses, stated that Palomino D O was the dam of
Frontera Sugar, the dam of Sugar Bars. This gives us an interesting tie between Fire Water Flit and Rock N Roll Rona and the blood of Palomino D O, by a son of Ben Hur.
The dam of Rock N Roll Rona is Navas Bolder Girl, a mare that earned $30,069 with stakes wins in the Lone Star State Derby and the Miss Polly Handicap Classic. This mare won eight of her 30 starts. She became the dam of five starters with four to race and all four earned their ROM. She produced no stakes performers.
The sire of Navas Bolder Girl was Bolder Yet, an ROM racehorse and a stakes race qualifier in two races. His best finish in stakes races is a fourth in the Old South Futurity-G2. Bolder Yet was sired by Master Hand TB, the sire of horses like All American Futurity winner Mr Master Bug. Master Hand was a son of Bold Ruler. The dam of Bolder Yet was Victory Jet by Easy Jet. Her dam was Top Victory by Top Deck. Bolder Yet sired only one foal crop of six foals with three starters and two ROM.
The dam of Navas Bolder Girl was Nava Pass, a mare that earned her ROM with an 89 speed index. She earned $5,600 with five wins in 22 starts. She is the dam of two stakes horses in Navas Bolder Girl and stakes placed Nava Crimson, who was third in two stakes including the Heritage Festival Futurity.
The sire of Nava Pass is Pass ‘Em Up, a Thoroughbred runner that won only four of his 26 starts with $11,526 in earnings. He definitely showed his speed winning his four races at distances of 4.5 to 6 furlongs. Pass ‘Em
