Flit Bar, the sire of Fire Water Flit, was never shown but is today one of the most influential sires in modern barrel racing.
The sire of Flit Bar was Sugar Bars, who
was sired by Three Bars and he was out of Frontera Sugar by Rey. Rey was sired by the Thoroughbred Captains Courageous by Stimulus. The dam of Frontera Sugar was
a Ben Hur mare by Ben Hur. Ben Hur was sired by Rainy Day by Lone Star. The dam of Ben Hur was Nettie Jacket by Yellow Jacket.
The dam of Flit Bar was Flit by Leo. Flit was an AA rated mare sired by Leo who was sired by Joe Reed II and out of Little Fanny, both sired by Joe Reed P-3. Flit was out of Julie W, a daughter of Joe Hancock. Joe Hancock was a noted racehorse and then sire. Joe Hancock was sired by John Wilkens by Peter McCue. The dam of Julie W was a Burnett Ranch mare whose breeding is unknown.
Flit was a versatile producer. She was
a race mare, but her first foal was NCHA Open World Champion Cutting Horse King’s Pistol. Sugar Leo, a full brother to Flit Bar, is an AAA rated AQHA Champion. Sugar Leo is the sire of Sugar Vaquero, the 1973 NCHA Open World Champion in cutting, and Poco Sugar Leo, the 1972 AQHA High Point Working Cow Horse.
Flit Bar sired 30 performance ROM, six racing ROM and five AQHA Champions. He sired 8 Superior winners in halter and performance. His foals include Flashy Flit Bar, an AQHA Champion and with a Superior in Tie-Down Roping. Flit Bar sired a number of National Finals Rodeo qualifiers, including Wabana Bar Flit and Bar Ours.
Slash J Harletta was the dam of Fire Water Flit. She was a show mare that earned
41.5 youth performance points and 7 youth halter points. She was an open AQHA Champion, earning 26 barrel racing points and 17 halter points. Celie Whitcomb Ray and Slash J Harletta were finalists in the 1971 National Finals Rodeo.
The sire of Slash J Harletta was Harlan, an unshown son of Hank H, an AA rated runner. Hank H was sired by King P-234. The dam of Hank H was Queen H by Dan by Old Joe Bailey. The dam of Harlan was the famous Dixie Beach by Beetch’s Yellow Jacket and out of Mayflower by Nail Driver.
The dam of Slash J Harletta was Frog’s Annette by Frog W, who was sired by Black Hawk and out of Mae West P-56 by Coke T and she was out of a Roberds Mare by Peter McCue. The produce record for Frog’s Annette shows that she was the dam of two AQHA Champions, three ROM racehorses, and three arena ROM earners.
The dam of Frog’s Annette was Miss Cheyenne W by Revenue by Young Midnight. Young Midnight was sired by Midnight. The dam of Young Midnight was Trixie by Midnight. The dam of Miss Cheyenne W was Cheyenne Lady H. Lady Cheyenne H was sired by Midnight. This gives Miss Cheyenne W a breeding pattern of 3 X 4 X 3 to Midnight, who was sired by Badger by Peter McCue.
Miss Cheyenne W was the dam of three performers, including Frog’s Fox, an ROM performer with 9 halter and 6.5 performance
points; Frog’s Shy Ann, with five halter points; and Cheyenne Tag, with four performance points.
Slash J Harletta produced eight foals and it is estimated that they have earned over $500,000 in barrel racing. Her first foal, Smak Jak by Jet Threat, was a Fort Smith Derby Champion. Her next foal, Free Etta by Wiggy Bar, was an NFR qualifier that earned a Superior in barrel racing. Her foal
I Got Bugs by Bugs Alive In 75 won seven futurities and three derbies and was an NFR qualifier. Smak A Bug, a full brother to I Got Bugs, is the winner of the Budweiser Futurity and the North Texas Futurity. Ima Etta Leo, a full sister to Fire Water Flit, is the winner of the Champion of Champions Futurity. The last foal out of Slash J Harletta is Letta Hank Do It. This stallion is a barrel racing money winner and a finalist in several events such as the Lazy E Barrel Futurity.
The dam of Firewaterontherocks is Rock N Roll Rona, the mare that started Robyn with her involvement in the barrel racing futurities. Rock N Roll Rona was bred by Clarence W. Cobb of Bryan, Texas. She has a speed index of 86 and a record of two wins in 10 starts. She earned $2,674 on the track and is a barrel racing money winner.
Rock N Roll Rona is sired by the All American Futurity winner Ronas Ryon. He was the 1986 AQHA Racing Champion Two Year Old and Champion Two-Year-Old Colt. He won $1,777,979 on the track. Ronas
