Personnel Changes At Bob Moore Farms
Bob Moore Farms announced two person- nel changes effective as of Jan. 1, 2018. Frank Merrill has been appointed to the Board of Directors, and Phillip Stewart, long-time employee and Director of Equine Operations, has been chosen to be General Manager. Stewart brings 30+ years’ experience in the horse breeding operations. According to a press release, “We believe under Phillip’s guidance, Bob Moore Farms will not just maintain the current standards, but will continue to move the needle higher.”

R.C. “Punch” Jones Passes Away

member R.C. “Punch”
Jones, 89, passed away
on Nov. 28. Punch
and his wife Suzanne
established a breeding
dynasty of more than
7 generations of brood-
mares out of 4-time
track record setter Maroon TB. Their runners descending from this mare include multiple stakes winners Rule The Deck and Kuhi Kuhi, one of the top racing mares of her time. Punch
and Suzanne received the AQHA 30-year con- tinuous breeder award and 50-year cumulative breeder award. Punch helped organize the New Mexico A&M Rodeo Association, served as a director in NMQHA and AQHA, where he was a member of both the racing and stud book and registration committees, and was president of the New Mexico Horse Breeders Association. Punch was honored in 2000 with the first Annual Southwest Cowboy Celebration, was inducted into the Lea County Cowboy Hall
of Fame in 2004, and was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne, in 2015, and is survived by many family members and friends.
Hershel Eugene Cole Passes Away
Longtime horse- man Hershel Cole, 80, passed away on Oct. 30. Cole, who bred, raised and sold racing Quarter Horses, is survived by his wife Kay, daughter Teresa, and many other family members and friends.
