JA Jess Perfect (Mr Jess Perry-JA Curiousity, Dash For Cash) will stand
the 2018 season at Granada Farms near Wheelock, Texas. The 2007 sorrel stallion won or placed in 16 of 28 starts, earning $52,435 winning the Live Oak Handicap. His first foals are yearlings of 2018.
Majestic Cartel
Majestic Cartel (Corona Cartel-Five Bar Molly, Dash Ta Fame) will stand the 2018 sea- son at J&M Equine Reproduction Center in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. The unraced 2011 bay stallion is a full brother to Champion Five Bar Cartel and out all-time leading dam of ROM/multiple graded stakes winner Five Bar Molly. His first foals are 2 year olds of 2018.

The photo on page 209 shows 3-Time Champion Ketel Won (Stoli-Sixy Lady, Streakin Six), who was bred/owned by R.D. Hubbard and trained by Paul Jones, winning the 2007 Zia Championship-G1 under jockey Freddie Martinez. The 2003 sorrel stallion also won the 2008 version of the race. Ketel Won began his career on the track at two, making just one start as a freshman, and raced until five years of age. In
those four years, Ketel Won earned $651,740 with a race record of 19-8(6)-5(3)-2(2), winning at Los Alamitos, Ruidoso Downs, Sunland Park and Zia Park. His stakes victories included the two Grade 1 Zia Park Championships, the 2007 Championship at Sunland Park-G1, the 2007 Higheasterjet Handicap-G3, and the 2007 and 2008 All American Gold Cup-G3. Ketel Won was named Champion Aged Horse and Champion Aged Stallion in 2007 and Champion Aged Stallion again in 2008. He was also the 2008 New Mexico Hi-Point Aged Stallion.
After his career on the track, Ketel Won began stud duty at JEH Stallion Station’s New Mexico-Division and then stood for a short while at Hart Farms in Louisiana. He was then sold and exported to Brazil in 2014, where he stood at Peixoto’s Rancho Horizonte. The young stallion passed away in Brazil in 2015 at the age of 12 after complications from colic. Ketel Won is the sire of over $2 million in earners, including top earner An Absolut Diamond. This year’s $150,000 Grade 1 Zia Championship was won by Jessies First Down.
