IM PASSING B
Mby John Moorehouse
ake it two outs and two wins for Im Passing
B. The rookie colt charged to black type in his latest start, taking first place in the $50,000 Oklahoma Juvenile by 1/2-length on March 25 at Remington Park. The race was held for two- year-olds that did not successfully qualify for the Oklahoma Futurity, held on the same card.
Family Racing LLC, and Cimarron Nursery2 Inc. own Im Passing B, who was foaled in Oregon by breeder Chad Hart. The colt won his trial for the Oklahoma Futurity but his :15.599 run wasn’t quick enough to give him one of the 10 spots in the field.
No matter; Im Passing B came back strong in his stakes debut. The post-time favorite at 8-5 odds, he broke from the outside gate in an 8-horse field and led by a head at the first call. Jockey Salvador Martinez urged on the gray colt, who pulled away during the final yards to win by a 1/2 length. Jorge Gonzalez trains Im Passing B, who finished the 300-yards in :15.523 for an 88 speed index. The $20,833 prize from the race increased the colt’s total earnings to $26,617.
Im Passing B is out of Splendifferous, a 2006 mare who competed in several lucrative stakes on the West Coast, highlighted by a runner-up effort in the 2010 running of the Los Alamitos Distaff Challenge-G3.
Famous Cartelcowgirl (Flying Cowboy 123-Famous Cartel Lady) finished second for Johnny Trotter. The Trey Wood trainee had Oscar Andrade, Jr., in the irons. Dance Hawl Gal (Duponte-Jess A Coronas Heart), a 16-1 longshot, surprised in third for owner Erick Aguilar and trainer Luz Chavira. Cordarelton Benn had the riding assignment.
Followed by Jess To Be Valiant (Apollitical Jess-Belle Of Valor), Getaway Piloto (Mr Piloto- Alondra Grace), Rider Stone (Tempting Dash- Redneckedness), Mr Money Tree Z (Mr Jess Perry-Found A Candy Tree) & Nola Brees (Kiss My Hocks-Where Eagles Soar).
