THE 2023 RACING SEASON AT THE
HIPODROMO DE LAS AMERICAS
BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 25
As Announced by the Mexican Administrator of Racing and the General Directorate of Games and Sweepstakes of the Ministry of the Interior

This announcement was made through a brief statement to the horse industry, issued by both entities on Feb. 20, when they also announced
the creation of the “Mexican Committee for Arbitration and Surveillance of Horse and Greyhound Racing A.C.,” which will be the new mediator and supervisor in the 2023 racing season. They will be in charge of applying “the technical rules and the tests for the control of prohibited substances to the participants of the horse races that take place during the 2023 season at the Hipodromo de las Americas” in Mexico City.
The Mexican Committee for Arbitration and Surveillance of Horse and Greyhound Racing A.C. is an independent civil association whose purpose
is the registration, regulation, and surveillance
of all competitors in horse and greyhound
racing, as well as applying the examinations of controlled prohibited substances to generate greater competitiveness and transparency in competitions.
For its part, the Mexican Administrator of Racing, S.A. of C.V. and the General Directorate of Games and Sweepstakes of the Ministry of
the Interior reinforced their commitment to “continue supporting the development of national horse racing, with transparent and practical actions with all the participants, including horsemen, riders, trainers, veterinarians, and judges, to offer racing to the general public,” according to the statement.
It should be mentioned that this was
the result of several months of talks and negotiations between the associations of horsemen and breeders of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse horses with the aforementioned General Directorate of Games and Sweepstakes and the Mexican Racetrack Administrator.
Although the integration and operation of the new committee and the decisions that it begins to take have yet to be specified, it will replace the previous Mexican Commission of Horse Racing, A.C., whose decisions generated discontent among the participants and the consequent deterioration of the organized equestrian activity at the Hipodromo de las Americas. For now, it
