Chayito Cartel’s winning connections include owner J. Francisco Diaz, trainer Lindolfo Diaz and jockey Jesus Ayala
Francisco bred Chayito Cartel out of Runnin In Traffic, whom he raced to three wins in 14 starts and multiple stakes-plac- ings. Runnin In Traffic has produced two winners in four starters.
“Honestly, we didn’t think he would be this good,” Lindolfo said of Chayito Cartel.
“His mother never produced much,” he said. “She was a pretty good racehorse. She was a solid stakes-placed filly, but never had a baby like this one.”
Mental Error (Favorite Cartel-Iba Quick Chick), owned by Bobby Simmons, trained
by Paul Jones, and ridden by Ramon Sanchez, finished second. The colt debuted with a second in a maiden race prior to winning his Kindergarten Futurity trial by a length. Reliance Ranches LLC’s Dreams Divine (Apollitical Jess-Answer The Dream) ran a close third under Ruben Castro, who rode the filly for trainer Mike Robbins. Dreams Divine won both of her races prior to the Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity finals.
Completing the field were: Cartel Jess Rockin (Favorite Cartel-Feature Jess Rockin), Chickititas Favorite (Favorite Cartel- Chickitita), A Political Spell (Apollitical Jess-Chalalita), Spectacular Corona (Corona Cartel-Separate Fire), Corona Lake (Corona Czech-Shadow Lake TB), Diamond Rock (Parsons Rock-Might She Go) and Leonel Bugatti (Kiddy Up-Warm My Form).
