                                New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes
CHICKS BABY SUDS

New Mexico breds were center stage at SunRay Park for the $60,000 New Mexico Breeders’ Stakes on May 17.
Lightly raced Chicks Baby Suds broke in fourth under rider Jaime Leos. The filly grabbed second place by the first call and continued to gain ground, grabbing the lead in the stretch.
Chicks Baby Suds crossed the line a neck in front, stopping the timer in :19.536 for the 400yard event and earning a career high 97 speed index.
The filly brought home the $36,000 winner’s share of the purse for owner Jacob Simmons III and trainer Cynthia Gonzalez, boosting her cumula- tive earnings to $49,260. She is now undefeated from two starts after breaking her maiden by 1 1/4-lengths at Sunland Park on April 26.
Mike Abraham bred Chicks Baby Suds out of unraced Hot Babe Indy Suds. The mare has pro- duced 100% winners from four starters, including top earner Hot Indy Chick who won the 2016 Zia Futurity-G1 at Ruidoso Downs. Chicks Baby Suds is now the fourth stakes winner in the brood. A $15,000 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Sale graduate in 2017, Chicks Baby Suds is a half-sister stakes- placed and Grade 1 finalist Cmon Jesses Girl.
Wahene Version (Winners Version-Wahene Kai) was the veteran in the field with ten races under her belt. She finished second under Edgar Martinez for owner Erick Gutierrez-Carrillo and trainer Beatriz Sanchez-Carrillo. Vintage Vaquera (Big Daddy Cartel-Kim Crawford) and Esgar Ramirez finished third for owner Diamond Racing Stables and trainer Jose Muela.
CD Flash And Fame (First Moonflash-Famous Phoebe), Cambria Cartel (Big Daddy Cartel-FDD Cambria), Fifty Shots AR (Jesse James Jr-Call Me Blazin) and Tooflashyforyou (First Moonflash- Holland Fire) completed the order of finish.
Animas Stakes
UNRESTRAINED

Unrestrained has won six of ten lifetime starts, and the six wins have come in his last seven races. His latest win was in the $50,000 Animas
Stakes at SunRay Park on May 3.
Unrestrained stepped away from the 7-post in
third and had plenty of room to run. Under Emilio Tapia, the 3-year-old gelding grabbed the lead early and held on throughout, crossing the wire 1-length in front. Unrestrained brought home the $30,000 winner’s share of the purse for owner Christina Salas and trainer Jesus Olivas, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $70,629.
Edward C. Allred bred the gelding out of lightly raced Thinking Out Loud, a full sister to 5-time stakes winner Check My Thoughts. Thinking Out Loud has produced 100% winners/ROM from four starters, including top earner Blabber, who won the 2015 California Breeders’ Debutante Stakes, 2016 Elan Again Handicap and 2016 AB What A Runner Handicap. Unrestrained is her second stakes winner. His second dam is 5-time winner Just Think. Raced exclusively at Los Alamitos, Just Think won the 2003 Mistletoe Handicap.
Dashin Special Cuz (Dashair-Showum Some Kisses) was second under Edgar Martinez for owner Orlando Villa and trainer Beatriz Sanchez-Carrillo.
C Breeze (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Back In The Pack) and Adrian Ramos were third Rancho El Pentagono Inc. and trainer Jaime Aldavaz Jr.
Little Party Wagon (Little PYC-Anns Party Doll), Sure Fire Quick (Walk Thru Fire-One Quick Jess), Dashin My Lady (Inseperable-My Miracle Lady), Taking The Stage (Louisiana Senator-Thirty Fourth Street), Sin Tachas First (First Timber-Sin Tachas Grace), Fast Gold Prize (Hez Our Secret- Fast Prize Corona) and Everybodyneedsahero (Valiant Hero-Beg Stel Or Borrow) completed the order of finish.
La Plata Stakes
RARIN

Rarin scored his third stakes victory in the $49,500 La Plata Stakes at SunRay Park on May 10.
The 7-year-old bay gelding stepped away from
the 9-post in first under Martin Felix. They held the lead throughout, gliding to a 1-length victory.
Rarin completed the 400 yards in :19.817 to earn a 90 speed index.
The gelding banked first place money of $30,000 for owner Olaya Munoz Duarte and trainer Robert Sanderson, boosting his total life- time earnings to $204,180.
Rarin won last year’s James Isaac Stakes-G3
at Zia Park as well as the Mighty Deck Three Stakes-G3 at Remington Park. He was also a final- ist in the Sooner State Stakes-G1 and in the Mr Jet Moore Stakes-G2.
Kathleen O. Matey bred Rarin out of Colors of the Wind Handicap winner Rare Kayoh, who also ran third in the 2006 TQHA Oaks Stakes and was a finalist in the 2007 Kool Kue Baby Stakes. She has produced 100% money earners from five start- ers, including 3-time stakes winner Pyro. Rarin is her second stakes winner and top money eaner.
Putinical (Apollitical Jess-KGB Agent Anna) made a gritty run under Edgar Martinez to pocket second place money for owner Blas Duran Castillo and trainer Beatriz Sanchez-Carrillo.
Lota PYC Chrome (Lota PYC-Miss Desert Chrome) and Mauro Salcido finished in third for owner/trainer Diego L Meza.
Delight Won (One Famous Eagle-CC Delight) finished in fourth place and was followed by Rvaliant Chick (Valiant Hero-Rdustys Chick), Don Quixote (Stel Corona-Romanticist), Khronos (Foose-Serious Intensions), Mh Mean Eyed Cat (Red Storm Cat-Eyes Required) and Only Business (Dominyun-TellerSheza Doll). Temptingjess For LMG was scratched.
