FRANKLYENERGIZED
by Danny Camp
Make it two in a row for Franklyenergized TB since Frank Reyes took over the riding assignment. His most recent win was the $48,000
Marathon Stakes at SunRay Park on May 11. Under Reyes, Franklyenergized broke from the
5-post in fourth. The gelding didn’t seem to take much interest in the contest, but Reyes was content to let him coast and take the scenic route - going 7-wide in the turn. When they made their way for the wire, however, jockey and mount got serious about running and quite simply dominated the field. They crossed the line coasting to 1 1/4-length victory.
They completed the 870 yards in :47.032. The gelding also earned first place money of $30,000 for owner John Pinkerton and trainer Justin Evans, which ups Franklyenergized’s total earnings to $148,793.
Previously, the gelding was fourth in the 2016 Budweiser Stakes and was a finalist in the 2017 KLAQ Handicap and the 2016 Bill Thomas Memorial Stakes.
Peter Hladky bred Franklyenergized out of 4-time winner Seldom Silent. She has produced 100% winners from three starters. Franklyenergized is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Funny Munny (Munnings TB-Fodice) set the early pace and was able to hold on for second under Alejandro Medellin for owner Leann Archuleta and trainer Adam Archuleta.
Move Over Rover (Man On The Move- Hennesseys House TB) pressed the pace, going 6-wide in the turn, and finished third under Mauro Salcedo. He is owned by Nannette Lane and Terry Lane, and is trained by Cynthia Gonzalez.
The remainder of the field finished like this: Southern Mojo TB (Hold Me Back-Sizzlin South), Face Valued TB (Harbor The Gold-Sugar Sleet) and Dark Brook (Brookstone Bay-Houston Duchess). Big Finish TB was scratched.

NUMBER ONE INTEREST
by Danny Camp
Coming into the finals of the Four Corners Futurity with the eighth fastest time from the May 19 trials was Number One Interest. She had
two previous races under her belt, a fifth, then a third in the trials. In the finals, she was at the top of her game. She was looking down the track 350 yards away where there was a total of $82,379 waiting. She got away from the 3-post like a champ and dug in every step of the race.
She crossed the line a neck in front showing speed all the way, with jockey Irving Delgado- Bustillos hustling and riding hard every stride. The daughter of Seperate Interest had her picture taken for the first time and took home a check worth $38,718 for owners Samantha and Lilly Leyba and trainer Ruben Leyba, boosting her total lifetime earnings to $39,704.
Allred Bros Ranch LLC bred Number One Interest out of 3-time winner One Slick Cookie. by Danny Camp
Frankie James’ third lifetime win came in the $60,000 Jimmy Drake Stakes at SunRay Park on May 24.
Under Jaime Leos, Frankie James broke in second from the three-gate and quickly grabbed the lead and held there throughout the contest. The four-year-old sorrel gelding crossed the wire in front, defeating 2018 NMHBA Champion Aged Horse Major Bites by 1/2-length.
Frankie James completed the 400 yards in :19.483, posting a 98 speed index.
