VALENTINA RELENTLESS

Valentina Relentless turned in a record-setting effort to secure the second stakes win of her young career, setting a 330-yard New Track Record at Weber Downs in a victorious effort in the $77,475 Hadley-Giles Memorial Futurity on June 1.
The two-year-old filly completed the race in :16.860, surpassing the existing record that had stood for 25 years. Dealing The Cash held the prior record, a time of :16.880 recorded on Oct. 8, 1994.
Alan Miramontes was in the irons for the record- setting run by Valentina Relentless.
Trained by her owner Kenia Pinela Marioni, Valentina Relentless broke on top and led at every call, widening her advantage at every juncture.
Enjoying a 1-length separation entering the stretch, the filly pulled away during the final yards and sported a 2-length separation as she hit the wire.
Valentina Relentless scored a 103 speed index and brought home a $30,990 payday, improving her lifetime bankroll to $52,368.
Valentina Relentless now holds three wins in four career starts, a total that includes another wire-to- wire run in the $51,448 Golden Spike Futurity held in April at this same track.
Valentina Relentless also won her May 18 trial to the Hadley Giles Futurity, scooting away for a wire-to- wire win by 3-lengths and the fastest qualifying spot.
Buddy Albin bred Valentina Relentless out of winner BA Little Mini, a full sister to 100% Paint winner Anns Mini. Valentina Relentless is BA Little Mini’s first starter.
Her second dam is APHA Champion Running Aged Mare Mini Melt, who was a finalist in the 2008 Olympia Joe Handicap-G1 as well as in the 2009 Gulf Coast Maturity.
Fooses Tat (Foose-Wild Tat Too) finished in second place for owner/trainer Roberto Ortiz. Daniel Carrillo drew the riding assignment. KVN Little Sister (Corona Cartel-Executive Looks) placed third under Jesus Canales for owner McColee Land and Livestock, LLC and trainer Riley Moosman. KVN Little Sister is the sister to AQHA Racing Champion KVN Corona. Asharp break from the 3-post helped fourth- fastest qualifier Corona By Corona score a wire-to-wire win in the $42,000 Utah Bred Derby at Weber Downs on June 1.
Ridden by Jesus Valenzuela for trainer Riley Moosman, Corona By Corona covered 350 yards in :17.862 while defeating fastest qualifier Locomotion Girl by a clear 2-lengths.
The gelding recorded a 96 speed index and earned the $16,800 winner’s share for owner Keith W. Nellesen, who also campaigned 2-time Champion KVN Corona.
Raced in two states, Corona By Corona has banked $46,753 from 13 outs, and his five wins including the $20,000 Holiday Handicap at Los Alamitos on Dec. 29. He was also second in the Ed Burke Million Juvenile
Corona By Corona was bred by McColee Land and Livestock LLC out of Louisana Corona, a 9-year-old daughter of Champion Jess Louisiana Blue who won two stakes in 2014 including
the Junos Request Stakes-G2 for distaffers at Remington Park. Louisana Corona was also a final- ist in the All American Derby-G1 as well as in the Dash For Cash Derby-G2. The mare has produced 100% money earners from eight starters, includ- ing Ruidoso Futurity-G1 finalist Corona Squared. Corona By Corona is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Corona By Corona’s second dam, Corona Cash, won the 1997 All American Futurity-G1 and was the sport’s Champion 2 Year Old that season and Champion 3 Year Old the following year. With 19 victories, she had many other Graded stakes wins, including the Los Alamitos Derby-G1, Governor’s Cup Derby-G1 and Governor’s Cup Futurity-G1.
Locomotion Girl (Desirio-Commotion Motion) was second under Francisco Linan for owner Albert Sacco and trainer Scott Goodrich.
BF Mightymemorylane (Mighty B Valiant-BF Memory Lane) ran third, a nose behind Locomotion Girl, for owner Jon Lane Henderson. Danny Marshall rode the filly for trainer Alvaro Torres.

Beach Bum Eddie was anything but lazy when he scored the first stakes win of his career, emerging victorious in the $82,269 Born Runner Classic at
Indiana Grand on May 24.
Ridden by Daniel Luz Martinez, Beach Bum
Eddie brushed at the start but grabbed the early advantage in the 400-yard dash. The bay gelding maintained a clear lead through the lane to score by a neck. Beach Bum Eddie covered the distance in :20.071, earning a speed index of 86 for owner/ trainer Anthony Cunningham.
Beach Bum Eddie is now a winner on 8 of 25 career starts, and the $45,705 winner’s share of this purse increased his lifetime bankroll to $202,949.
“I bought him as a yearling from Mick Beyer,” said Cunningham. “He has always raced well and finished second to a lot of the horses that were in this race tonight. He just couldn’t finish. He was good for about the first 385 yards but couldn’t finish in his last 15 and would get caught. Tonight, Daniel did a good job to get him home for the win.”
Bred in Indiana by William Beyer, Beach Bum Eddie is out of stakes-placed Carman Copy. She has produced 100% money earners from 10 starters. Beach Bum Eddie is her first stakes winner.
Runner-up Beach Cartel (Escondido Beach- Flashin Dee Dee) just missed under Berkley Packer for owner Sheri Miller and trainer Randy Smith.
Kitty Sixup (Sixes Liaison-Keens Cat) and Samuel Mendez were prominent throughout and held third for owners Erin Thompson, who also trains the gelding, and Deane Lehman.
WH Design by Dash (Brimmstone-Fast Mans Dash), Beach Mercedes (Escondido Beach-Jess Alive Bully), Chick On the Beach (Palm Beach-Chicks Sweet Donna), Kids Bright Image (Kool Quick Kid- Bright Lineage), and Beach Treat (Escondido Beach- Treat Me to Cash) completed the order of finish.
