Coronas Leaving You is one of four stakes winners out of Lil Bit Rusty.
When Lil Bit Rusty was mated with Chicks Beduino she produced two of her four stakes winners—Whosleavingwho and Beduinos Rusty. When mated with Corona Cartel she foaled Coronas Leaving You. When we look at the pedigree of Corona Cartel we see that his dam is the legendary Corona Chick by Chicks Beduino. This places three of her four stakes winners with a tie to Chicks Beduino.
Chicks Beduino was a successful racehorse who became a great sire. He won the Bay Meadows Futurity-G1 and the Governor’s Cup Futurity-RG3 as part of seven wins in 14 starts, with earnings of $412,099.
Chicks Beduino is the sire of 141 AQHA stakes winners with earnings of $35.2 million. He counts among his stakes winners Separatist, a three-time AQHA Champion and multiple stakes winner, and the great mare Corona Chick, a three-time AQHA Champion and an AQHA Dam Of Distinction with foals such
as the successful sires Corona Cartel and his younger three-quarter brother Valiant Hero.
LIL BIT RUSTY’S LEGACY
In order for a mare to be a blue hen she must go beyond her own produce and expand her influence through her offspring and their offspring. Well, several 2012 stakes winners seem to show that the Lit Bit Rusty family is growing and doing just fine. They include: Open Me A Corona (grandson); Valiant Lil Lady (great-granddaughter); The Lizzard King (great-great-grandson); Beer And Nuts (grand- son); Dash For Corona (grandson); and Ronnie James (great-great-grandson).
Valiant Lil Lady won four of five races in 2012 including the Texas Classic Futurity-G1. Her only loss was an eighth-place finish in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity. Valiant Lil Lady is out of the unraced mare Rustys Lil Lady,
Lil Bit Rusty’s great-great-grandson Ronnie James set the fastest qualifying time to the 2012 Texas Classic Futurity-G1.
The next foal we will profile is Coronas Leaving You, a 2005 son of leading sire Corona Cartel. This son of Lil Bit Rusty is the winner of the Firecracker Futurity-G2 and the 6666 Ranch Handicap. He was second in the Texas Classic Derby-G1 and a finalist in the Texas Classic Futurity-G1 and The Championship At Sunland Park-G1. He earned $278,358.
Wholelotacash is a 1996 gelding by Dash For Cash and our third stakes winner out of Lil Bit Rusty. This gelding won the Mexico Championship Challenge and the TQHA Sire’s Cup Stakes. He ran second or third in six more stakes including the Classic Chevrolet
Stakes-G3, and went to the finals in seven more stakes races. He won $109,986.
The fourth stakes winner out of Lil Bit Rusty is Beduinos Rusty, foaled in 1993 and sired by Chicks Beduino. This mare won the Sam Houston Futurity-G1 en route to modest earnings of $57,695. She raced only as a 2-year- old in 1995, winning four of five starts.
Lil Bit Rusty’s stakes-placed runner is Way Down Town, by First Down Dash. Way Down Town was second in the Delta Dash and a finalist in the El Primero Del Ano Derby-G1 and the Governor’s Cup Derby-RG2. He earned $31,959.
