Lil Bit Rusty’s great-granddaughter Valiant Lil Lady won the 2012 Texas Classic Futurity-G1.
Ronnie James. This 3-year-old-gelding won the Evangeline Downs Derby-Div. 2, was second in the Sam Houston Derby-G3 and fourth in the Firecracker Futurity. The sire of both Ronnie James and The Lizzard King is Valiant Hero, giving this maternal family of Lil Bit Rusty another cross to Chicks Beduino through the pedigree of Valiant Hero. This cross gives us a 3x4 breeding pattern to Chicks Beduino.
Sheza Lilbituino is also the dam of the stakes-winning mare Jess A Lil Bit More, who won the 2007 TQHA Sire’s Cup Derby-RG3 and the Dash For Cash Derby-G1. Jess A Lil Bit More is sired by Mr Jess Perry, making her a three-quarter sister to Jess A Lil Bit.
Jess A Lil Bit More is the dam of two Register Of Merit horses from three start- ers—Gold Rrrush by Corona Cartel, Jess A Lil Secret by No Secrets Here, and SW Rocket Man by Coronas Leaving You, the stakes-win- ning son of Lil Bit Rusty. SW Rocket Man has an interesting pedigree because of his inbreed- ing to Lil Bit Rusty. He is currently racing and is one of Jess A Lil Bit More’s ROM earners. The other ROM runner is Gold Rrrush by Corona Cartel, giving us another cross on Chicks Beduino.
A NICK AND BLOOD AFFINITY
The mating of Lil Bit Rusty with the Chicks Beduino blood shows that she has a definite affinity for this stallion. This is what we call a “nick,” or the mating of a given stal- lion or blood of a given stallion with a specific mare or set of mares to produce outstanding foals. Many times when we identify a nick
we see what is called a blood affinity, with a common ancestor or ancestors between the
two horses being crossed. In this case of Chicks Beduino and Lil Bit Rusty, the blood affinity
is the appearance of Depth Charge in both of their pedigrees. For example, Whosleavingwho has a breeding pattern of 5x5 to Depth Charge. This means that Depth Charge appears in his pedigree in the fifth generation on both the sire and dam’s side of the pedigree.
The success of Ronnie James and The Lizzard King bring Beduinos Rusty back into the mix. After Beduinos Rusty’s short race career she followed in her mother’s footsteps as a producer. To date, she has produced 19 registered foals with 15 starters, 12 ROM and 10 race winners. She has three stakes winners and two stakes-placed runners.

who is out of Lil Bit Rusty. Rustys Lil Lady is by Fredericksburg, by Mr Jess Perry. Valiant Lil Lady is sired by Valiant Hero, who is by First Down Dash and out of Corona Chick, by Chicks Beduino. That takes us back to Chicks Beduino as a successful cross on Lil Bit Rusty.
Also competing in the 2012 Texas Classic Futurity was fastest qualifier Ronnie James, who ran fifth in the finals. Ronnie James won
the Firecracker Futurity-G2 at Delta Downs. Ronnie James is out of the Feature Mr Jess mare Jess A Lil Bit, who was a finalist in the 2005 Firecracker Futurity-G2. Her dam is Sheza Lilbituino, a daughter of Takin On The Cash. Sheza Lilbituino is out of Beduinos Rusty, Lil Bit Rusty’s stakes-winning daughter by Chicks Beduino.
