Phillips Jr. Handicap-RG3 and the Live Oak Handicap. This gelding has been second six times in stakes races including the Manor Downs Maturity-G3 and the Stephen F. Austin Stakes. He ran 39 races winning five, placing second 14 times and third four times for earn- ings of $120,865.
The second stakes winner out of Beduinos Rusty is Brimful. This 2007 filly won the 2009 Hialeah Lassie Futurity. She is a daughter of Brimmerton, by First Down Dash, by Dash For Cash, by Rocket Wrangler.
Rustys Quickid is the third stakes win- ner out of Beduinos Rusty and Royal Quick Dash is her sire. This mare won the Cypress Sophomore Handicap and was second in
the Bellflower Overnight Handicap. Rustys Quickid is the dam of 9 ROM with two stakes winners and three stakes-placed runners. The interesting part of this mare’s produce record
is that Corona Cartel is the sire of the two stakes winners—Quickid Corona and Maestro Corona. This makes these two foals double bred to Chicks Beduino through their dam and sire with a cross on Lil Bit Rusty to go along with it. Then we can add that Royal Quick Dash is out of Harems Choice, by *Beduino TB, the sire of Chicks Beduino, and we get quite a bit of *Beduino influence in this pedi- gree. It can be noted that the Depth Charge connection in Chicks Beduino comes from his sire *Beduino.
One of Rustys Quickid’s stakes-placed runners is Paint Me Quickid, who was third in the Retama Park Derby-G3 and a final-
ist in the Bob Moore Memorial Stakes, the Heritage Place Futurity-G1, the Heritage Place Derby-G2 and the Speedhorse Gold & Silver Cup Futurity. The sire of Paint Me Quickid is PYC Paint Your Wagon, by Corona Cartel, a grandson of Chicks Beduino.
SONS & DAUGHTERS
A blue hen mare can have a large influ- ence on the breed through her sons. Lil Bit Rusty’s stakes winning son Coronas Leaving You is working on that end of her influence. He currently has three stakes winners and
one stakes-placed runner for 2012. His stakes horses to date are Open Me A Corona, win- ner of the LQHBA Breeders’ Futurity-G1; Dash For Corona, winner of the Oklahoma Futurity-G2; Beer And Nuts, winner of the LQHBA Futurity Consolation; and Princess Lil Bit, stakes placed in the Governor’s Stakes. Horses sired by Coronas Leaving You have won $1,010,438 in 2012, making him the year’s second-leading freshman sire.
Not all of Lil Bit Rusty’s foals were top runners and that can be the case with any blue hen mare. But several of her daughters are proving to be contributors to the Lit Bit Rusty family of horses. Lil Bit Dutch is an ROM
race mare and is the dam of 14 ROM runners including five stakes horses—stakes winners Kool Hand Dutch, by First N Kool, and Apollo Dutch Man, by Apollo TB; stakes-placed NCC Ditch Witch, by Stoli, and NCC Slam Dunk, by Separatist; and stakes finalist NCC Grand Slam, also by Separatist. Separatist, the sire
of the last two horses on the list, is sired by Chicks Beduino.
What makes the mating of Separatist and Lil Bit Dutch so interesting is that Holland Ease, the sire of Corona Cartel, was Lil Bit Dutch’s sire. First Down Dash, a grandson
of Rocket Wrangler, sired Holland Ease. But her matings with Separatist brings together
the Holland Ease on Chicks Beduino that produced Corona Cartel. All four of the foals from this cross of Separatist with Lil Bit Dutch are ROM with all four running with a speed index above 90.
Thus, we can carry this one step further about the descendants of Lil Bit Rusty and a breeding pattern they have in common. When we look at the pedigrees of Valiant Lil Lady, Ronnie James, The Lizzard King, Open Me A Corona, Brimful, Beer And Nuts and Quickid
Lil Bit Rusty’s grandson Boknaai, a multiple stakes winner and stakes-producing sire.
