A DREAM TO FILL

Garvan Kelly and Lloyd Yother market most of the horses they breed, only keeping an occasional filly to replenish their broodmare
band. A Dream To Fill, a daughter of the mare Answer The Dream, will help them in that endeavor, but first she has plenty of racing to do, as she demonstrated by capturing the July 22 Speedhorse Derby at Fair Meadows.
“She’s just beginning to come into her own,” said Kelly. “She’s typical of Answer The Dream’s babies. They seem to do better as 3 year olds and older than as 2 year olds.”
After qualifying the fastest for the 350-yard Speedhorse Derby, A Dream To Fill broke well from post 8 in the final for jockey Jesus Salazar, though JC Black Mamba got away on top from the rail. A Dream To Fill may not have even seen JC Black Mamba, but nevertheless she caught that rival to score by a neck in :17.513.
Kelly lives in Palm Desert, California, and was unable to see the race in person. “We were pretty confident that she was going to do very
