MOTION OF GRACE

Francisco Javier “Javi” Garza promised his granddaughter Grace, now 7, that he would name a horse for her. He picked a good one, a
daughter of Hes Relentless out of Garza’s good mare Jumpn Beau Chick. The filly, named Motion Of Grace, recently captured the July 8 Firecracker Futurity-G2 at Delta Downs.
“She did really well—we were really proud of her,” Garza said. “We actually ran her in the Sam Houston (Futurity) trials and missed the final by a bit. We chose to skip the Juvenile, and she was a supplement to the Firecracker.”
Motion Of Grace, who is trained by Juan Diaz Jr., debuted in an April 27 maiden race at Sam Houston, winning by 1/2-length. She lost her Sam Houston Futurity trial by just a head and returned to take her Firecracker trial by a neck when ridden for the first time by Victor Urieta Jr.
Urieta broke Motion Of Grace on top in the final, and the filly really got moving midway through the 350 yards. She powered ahead of her rivals to win by 3/4-length in :17.595.
