Adequan GRP Derby Challenge

C Ladys Dashn Eagle was never headed in
the $52,547 Adequan Grants Pass Derby Challenge on July 2. Under jockey Mark Jasso, the sorrel colt completed the 400 yards with a time of :19.618 for a speed index of 104, finishing the race with a 1/2-length margin of victory.
The colt bagged a winner’s purse of $24,172, increasing his career total to $34,957. DC Ladys Dashn Eagle is trained by Hector Magallanes and holds 3 wins and 1 second in 7 career outs.
The colt is bred and owned by Donald Conway, and is out of multiple stakes placed mare DC Lady Juno. She has produced 100% winners from two starters, including New Track Record setter DC One Sweet Lady.
Bee A Freight Train (Freighttrain B-N Bee C), under jockey Cruz Contreras, crossed the finish in third but were placed in second due to being bumped around by a rival horse down the stretch. The colt is owned by Alberto Avila and trained by Mario Potillo. Bee A Freight Train is a multiple stakes winner and most recently won the Gary & Sherilyn Blattner Memorial Derby on May 21.
The Rev Rocker (A Revenant-Mitey Moon) drifted in late and bumped Bee A Freight Train in the stretch. They crossed the line in second but were disqualified to third for bumping their opponent. The gelding is owned by LG Racing, LLC and
is trained by Jose Rosales Gomez. He won the Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge last September.
Completing the field were Ima Sixy Man (Corona Cartel-Jess So Sixy), Jess After Midnite (Jess Being Valiant-Moonlight N Her Eyes), Dash To The Flash T (Five Bar Cartel-Dash Home Deb), RTM Ginsburg (First Moonflash-RTM Say Your Prayers), Flagstaff (Favorite Cartel-Kingman Kin), Chisum (Corona Cartel-Famous Little Reba). Check The Cartel was scratched.

attys Saint breezed down a fast track on
July 1 to win the $27,676 Q-Racing Video Grants Pass Downs Distaff Challenge in New Track Record setting time. Under the guiding hand of jockey Jesus Virgen, the brown mare outpaced the track record set in 2009 by Eyez On Brimmer, of :19.540. She ran wire-to-wire, sweeping the 400 yards in a time of :19.267 and finished a whooping 2 1/4-lengths ahead of the next horse for a speed index of 113.
Pattys Saint now boasts two wins in two
starts for the 2023 season. Her last win was in the Governer’s Cup Handicap on June 11 at Wyoming Downs. She secured both wins for breeder/owner Robert Harrison. She collected another $13,561 from this win to add to her bankroll, for a total career earnings of $243,892.
Pattys Saint is out of SP Saint Patty and is the leading money earner by sire Jess Got Easier. She is trained by Heath Hillman.
Runner-up Fooses Flyer (Foose-Fly Thru Time), seated by jockey Jaime Lopez, rallied and placed second by a nose. The brown mare is bred and owned by Malon Cowgill and is trained by Benito Curiel. Foose Flyer won an allowance race at Grants Pass just last month on June 16.
Third-place finisher First Moon Cat (Stray Cat- Yak Ity Yak Go) and jockey Santiago Jimenez battled for show, taking the spot. The sorrel mare is trained by Hector Magallanes and is bred and owned by
Jeff Ray. First Moon Cat won the Pocatello Downs Distaff Challenge last September.
AB What A Madonna (Tres Seis-AB What
A Runner), JS Fast N Sexy (Fastnfierce-Wild N Sexy), Senorita Frogs (Kiddy Up-Nellie Soprao), DC One Sweet Lady (One Sweet Jess-DC Lady Juno), completed the order of finish. JL Dashing Ohana was scratched.

now Moose has won three stakes and finished
first or second in all five of starts at Ajax Downs. His most recent stakes triumph occurred at the Canadian track in the July 5 Ontario Bred Derby.
The gray gelding, who qualified the fastest, went off as the even-money favorite in the 300-yard Derby. He broke on top for jockey Brian Bell, and though several rivals stayed with him at first, he led to the wire and won by a 1/2-length in :15.257.
Jason Pascoe trains Snow Moose for owner- breeder Milena Kwiecien. Prior to the Ontario
Bred Derby, Snow Moose won the 2022 Alex Picov Memorial Futurity and 2023 QROOI Open Derby.
Kwiecien bred Snow Moose in Ontario, Canada, from the winning Favorite Cartel mare Favorite Pearl, and Snow Moose is the mare’s first foal and starter. Kwiecien raced Favorite Pearl, who also won at Ajax, and Dr. Steve Burns bred the mare in California. Favorite Pearl is a 1/2-sister to multiple graded winner Jenuine Joy, the dam of Champion Imperial Eagle.
Richard Wincikaby’s homebred Sour Candy (Jess Good Candy-Tayter To The Top) finished second. Tony Phillips rode the gelding for trainer Michelle Woodley. Sour Candy won the 2022 QROOI Bonus Futurity.
Marie Broadstock’s homebred Eyesa Dasha Wacky (Dashair-All Wacked Out) ran third while ridden by Ramiro Castillo and trained by Bob Broadstock. The gelding finished second in the 2022 Ontario Bred Futurity.
Completing the field were Had To Be Ivy (Ivory James-Had To Be Fandango), Adreamtobuildakisson (Dashair-Tres Seis Smooches), A Shades Of Cold (Cold Hard Dash-Sassy Shades Of Gray), Silver Lyning (Separatist-Embrace Extravagence), Tex Dynasty (Mr Jess Tex-Zing Dynasty), Daz Cold (Cold Hard Dash-Dazzlin Lady), and One Fabulous Wave (One Fabulous Eagle-Volcoms Wave).
