Wyoming 870 Handicap

ance The Dust Off flew late for the win in
the $18,200 Wyoming Downs 870 Handicap on July 9. Under jockey Nakia Teeter, the brown gelding picked the lead up in the stretch to cross the wire first by a neck. The gelding covered the 870 yards in :45.106 for a speed index of 103.
Dance The Dust Off took home a winner’s share of $9,100 for owner Jewel Ramirez and trainer Clay Teeter, increasing his bankroll to $169,522. He boasts 11 wins in 26 career starts.
No stranger to distance races, the 7 year old brown gelding won the AQHA Distance Challenge Championship-G1 at Horseshoe Indianapolis last October.
The New Mexico-bred gelding was bred by Sarah E. Donaldson Rioux out of 3-time winner Magic Yard TB, by Graded stakes winning sire Ghazi.
DF Storm Tales (Wagon Tales-Storms Promise TB) and jockey Aislinn Finn gave a strong effort, battling for the win. They finished 1 1/4 lengths ahead of the next horse for owner Mertello Baird. This gelding was also trained by Clay Teeter and won an allowance race at Wyoming Downs the week before on July 2.
Heir Horse One TB (Wildcat Heir-Switchin Lanes) and jockey Jesus Virgen showed late interest but gained a substantial amount of ground in the stretch to finish ahead of fourth by 3 1/2-lengths. The gelding is owned by Mesia Child and trained by Martha Maldonado. This gelding has both won and placed in two allowance races at Wyoming Downs in the last month.
In the remaining order of finish was Captain Scotty TB (Quality Road-She Is Racing), Street Behavior TB (Street Sense-Exotic Behavior), BDR Jock (RGR Jungle Jock-Hawkin The Money). Bug Zapper and Visonary Star TB were both scratched by their respective trainers.

Cayenneoverthemoon flew up from the
outside to snag the win in the $18,200 Raysha’s Run - Racing For A Cure Stakes on July 9. Jockey Shaunda Larsen rode the filly wire-to-wire to a victory by 1/2-lengths for 350 yards in :17.426 for a speed index of 98.
The chestnut filly now sports 3 wins in 4 outs for the 2023 season and brought home a winner’s share of $8,736 from this race for owner Walter Larson and trainer Jess Matt. The 4 year old’s career earnings now sit at $91,816 and she has placed in 13 of 18 career outs. She won the Ron Moosman Memorial at Energy Downs 307 Horse Racing on May 20.
Cayenneoverthemoon was bred by S Bar S and
is out of stakes winning dam Dashmetothemoon. She was the 2022 leading progeny of multiple graded stakes winning sire Brindis Per Cayenne.
Under jockey Julio De La Torre, Moonshot (Favorite Cartel-Starlite Delight) broke alertly from the gate and quickly pushed ahead for second. The filly is owned by Mane Attraction Racing and is trained by Glade W. Van Tassel. Moonshot won her first out of the season at Wyoming Downs last month.
Sophia Maria (Apollitical Jess-Fantastic Follies), under Cesar Moreno, quickly pushed into the third place slot after breaking from the gate. She held her position down the field to finish ahead of fourth
by 3/4 lengths. The mare is owned by Gary D. Stringham and is trained by Lukrena Schoonover.
The remaining order of finish was Unavailable (Jess Good Candy-Shades Of Blues Girl), Lew Lew Belle (Big Lew-Queenly Walk), Political Hottie (Apollitical Jess-Arizona Hottie), Eyesa Special Swirl (Eyesa Special Slim-Lil Charolette Swirl), PS Perfect (Foose-BF Outrageous Doll).

ultiple stakes winning gelding Flight Club
raked in another win in the $40,657 Bank of America Evergreen Park Championship Challenge
at Grande Prairie on July 23. Seated by jockey J. Botello, the gray gelding was the easy winner and ran wire-to-wire. He finished the 440 yards with a time of :22.263 and a speed index of 95, ahead of the next horse by 2 1/2 lengths.
Flight Club earned a winner’s purse of $22,491 for owner Charles G. Stojan and trainer William Leech.
He now boasts a bankroll of $133,476. The five-year-old gelding has won three of his four starts this season and has finished in the money 15 of 17 career starts. His most recent win was on June 16 at Century Mile in the Century Mile Sprint Stakes.
Flight Club was bred by Steve D. Burns DVM out of 2-time winner at Los Alamitos Seperate Flight, by multiple Graded stakes winning sire Separatist.
Filling in the second place slot were FDD Fast Man (Big Lew-Winkin Dynasty) and jockey Jose Rocha. The gelding is owned by Jerry Stojan and trained by William Leech. FDD Fast Man placed third in the All Canadian Derby at Century Mile on June 10.
Under jockey Alan Rizo, Getit Foose (Foose- Getit Together) narrowly missed second by a nose. He is owned by Charles G Stojan and trained by William Leech. Getit Foose is a stakes winning gelding out of a Graded stakes winning dam and has won or placed in 19 of his 23 career starts. The gelding finished second in the Century Mile Bonus Challenge Stakes on June 2.
Multiple stakes winner Bearcat Bill (First Timber- Splashy Mamacita) and jockey Armando Andrade was never a factor in this race, falling 3-lengths behind the horse ahead of him. The gelding is owned by Barry and Janice Sather. Bearcat Bill won the Canada Cup Derby at Century Mile last October. Hortons Real Deal was scratched.
