Stallion Auction Futurity
GENERAL SKYWALKER
Eby Tracy Gantz
ven though General Skywalker was only
making his second start in the June 28 Stallion Auction Futurity at Ajax Downs, the 2-year-old acted like a consummate professional. He not only broke his maiden in the race, but he earned black type as well.
Favored Senator Rose had to be scratched before the start, and Dashes Of Ivory acted up in the gate right before the race began. General Skywalker, ridden by Ramiro Castillo, didn’t let any of that bother him, coming out of the gate straight and engaging with Wicked Wild Willie from the outset of the 250 yards. General Skywalker defeated Wicked Wild Willie by 1/2-length and stopped the timer in :14.093.
Bob Broadstock trains General Skywalker for owner/breeder Marie Broadstock. General Skywalker made his racing debut in a June 7 maiden race at Ajax Downs, running second to Senator Rose.
Marie Broadstock bred General Skywalker
in Ontario, Canada, from winner Katies Award. The mare has produced three starters, all winners. General Skywalker is her first stakes winner. The second dam is Graded stakes winner Katies Sign.
Mitchell Daniel owns and trains second-place Wicked Wild Willie (El Night Shift-Across The Ocean), and Ismael Mosqueira rode the gelding. Wicked Wild Willie was making his racing debut.
J.B. Botello piloted Pretty Magicall (Maryland Magic-Pretty Jane Perry) to third for owner Milena Kwiecien and trainer Jason Pascoe. Pretty Magicall ran fourth in the same June 7 maiden race as General Skywalker in his initial start.
Rounding out the field were Dashes Of Ivory (Cold Hard Dash-Stolin Ivory), You Are The Reason (Cold Hard Dash-Sassy Shades Of Gray), and Fiesty Feebee (Sugarman Perry-Chissled And Fiesty). Senator Rose was scratched.
