rated; Jet Moon, AA rated; Miss Prissy Jet, AAA rated; and Queen For A Day, AA rated. Jet Too was the third stakes winner out of Miss Night Bar and this horse won the 1966 Sunland Park Fall Futurity.
The Sire
When Jet Deck came off the track, Warren and Chambers made a deal
for Warren to lease Jet Deck. Warren
had overcome his poor opinion of Jet Deck and showed his appreciation for the stallion’s conformation by having him shown at halter and winning an aged stallion class and standing Grand Champion, earning five halter points. Warren later bought half interest in Jet Deck. It seems that now as we look back, we see that Jet Deck is just what Warren needed. He always professed that he was a true “short horse” man, but to keep up with the times he needed to stretch the short horse speed and power out to be competitive at 400 to 440 yards.
Jet Deck sired eight stakes horses in his first crop in 1965. Leading the Warren contributors was Custom Jet, who won the 1967 Oklahoma Futurity, and she was out of one of Warren’s foundation mares
in Lena Horn by Dock by Zantanon and out of Julie W by Joe Hancock. Next
came 89’ers Jet, winner of the Midway Downs Premier Futurity and she was
out of another Warren foundation mare, 89’er, one of the original King P-234 mares. Shujet was the winner of the 1968 Northern QHRA Derby and the Portland Meadows Derby. Although his dam Shubalee wasn’t a Warren broodmare, she was a daughter of Leo and the first Jet Deck foal out of a Leo mare to win a stakes race.
The 1966 foal crop of Jet Deck includes the following, with ties to Warren and his mares. They include Jet Again, winner of the 1969 Midway Downs Green Grass Derby. His dam was Oncita Leo,
a Warren broodmare by Leo. Jet Runner was next, and he won the 1968 Wisconsin Futurity. His dam was Strip Runner by Croton Oil by Leo, and Strip Runner was out of 89’er.
Jet Deck Junior was from the 1966 crop of Jet Deck and was another out of a Leo mare, but not a Warren broodmare. He certainly does show how Jet Deck worked on the “Short Horse” speed of horses like Leo and Oklahoma Star P-6. Jet Deck Junior’s dam was Drift by Leo, and Drift’s dam was Midnight Molly by
as well as on the ranch. When we look at her complete record, she added two more AAA or better runners with Three Jets and Night Bid, giving her 10 of her foals earning that rating or better.
Miss Jet Deck was the second foal out of Miss Night Bar. She made the finals
of 33 stakes races, placing first, second or third in 12 of them. Her stakes wins came in the 1962 Gift Horse Stakes and the Freeway Stakes. The next two foals out of Miss Night Bar and sired by Moon Deck were Bar Deck and Clovis Deck, both rated AAA on the track. Then came Jet Deck with his AAAT rating which is listed today as a Speed Index of 100. Limelite came next in this set of foals, and he was
a AAA rated runner. This is where Miss Night Bar goes to the court of Rocket Bar producing Three Jets, another AAAT or 100 speed index runner. Her next six foals were sired by Moon Deck, and they were Lightning Jet, AAA rated; Jet Too, AAA
