PIETERMAAI SCHARLOO
A stone’s throw from Punda and Otrobanda, you’ll find Scharloo and
Pietermaai. Named for Dutch seafarer Pieter de Meij who settled in Curaçao
in 1674, today’s Pietermaai is a trendy neighbourhood on the rise. Its lively
arts scene and nightlife make it popular with students, locals and visitors
alike. More and more shops, bars, B&Bs and galleries are popping up all the
time. A visit to Scharloo to see the beautifully restored mansions is also a
must.
