CURAÇAO’S CUISINE
The diversity of the population is also reflected in the local cuisine. The
influence of Spanish rulers, Dutch merchants, Venezuelan and Indonesian
contract workers and Portuguese Jews have all left their mark on the island’s
culinary traditions. The highlight of the rich local cuisine are its delicious
stews, like ‘karni stoba’ (beef) and ‘kabritu stoba’ (goat). Willemstad is a major
shipping hub, so markets and supermarkets are well stocked with imports
from Europe and North and South America.
FOOD AND FUN
If you fancy good food, tropical cocktails and nights out under the stars, you’ve picked the right

LOCAL FLAVOR
For adventurous palates, don’t miss out on the local fare. It doesn’t get
more authentic than lunch at the Marshe Bieuw (Old Market) in the center of
Willemstad. Or try Jaanchies in Westpunt, where they’ll talk you through the
day’s menu as birds eat out of diners’ hands. At Awa de Playa (Piscadera
Bay), the freshest fish is served up for local clientele on humble polystyrene
trays in which you can takeaway any leftovers.
FINE DINING
For a romantic tête-à-tête, there’s Bistro Le Clochard in Willemstad’s Rif
Fort. You’ll find great taste in every sense of the word. Their modern French
cuisine boasts treats like braised lamb with fresh pumpkin cream and
fenugreek sauce.
“ For a unique Farm-to-Table experience, visit Hofi Cas Cora for brunch on
Saturdays and Sundays.
