Fiber Arts Center of the
Eastern Shore
The Fiber Arts Center Presents “PA German Love of Color
Exhibit.” The German immigrants brought with them the
desire to decorate their modest and very plain homes. Th e
mid to late 1800’s explosion of bold colors and designs
were captured by the Pennsylvania Germans in their quilts.
Their unique designs, color combinations and quilting
patterns have created the “Dutch” folk art that is collected
today. The quilt makers desire of color and design can also
be seen on the back of their quilts during this time period
of the nineteenth century. Their folk art and love of color
is showcased in the exhibit entitled “PA German Love of
Color.” You will enjoy seeing what they considered their
“best quilts”, which were made and passed on to future
generations. We have lived our entire life in Berks County,
the heart of “Pennsylvania Dutch Country,” and are thankful
for the opportunity to share some of our local history. Please
enjoy the exhibit as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you.
This exhibit will be on display at the Fiber Arts Center in
Denton from July 31 through October 5, 2024, and is free for
all to enjoy.
