Federalsburg
Activities Center
On April 12, 2022 the Federalsburg Activities Center commit-
tee finalized settlement on the old Dollar General building at
118 Morris Avenue in Federalsburg. Our dream to open a local
community center will soon become a reality.
Renovations had begun over a year ago, when we had signed
a long-term lease, but was halted when the opportunity to
purchase the building was offered. Many obstacles blocked our
efforts, but our team never gave up. This was certainly a lesson
in patience. We appreciate the willingness of Provident State
Bank to work with us and to provide us with a mortgage loan.
Mayor Kim Abner, Pastor Pam Bockart, Wayne Cole, Felita
Friend, Barbara Freeman, Wendy Garner, Darlene Hammond,
Ronnie James, Betty Jarman, David Ricks, Pastor Stanford
Ricks, and other business leaders and individuals have
supported our effort to purchase this building.
State and local grant funds are already available to cover most
of the renovation costs and to provide furnishings. Caroline
County Human Services Council has been instrumental in
providing necessary funds to ensure the building will be ready
to open its doors once we are operational.
In 2020, a group of local pastors, business leaders and interested
citizens became involved in a plan to open an activity center
for area youth, senior citizens and others to use in downtown
Federalsburg.
Men for Change, Inc. had already been working with a small
group of youths for a dozen years, mentoring them and off er-
ing positive role models in the community. However, they Deeply relax, and Connect with your inner guidance,
were limited in how many young citizens they could reach. Make the changes you want.
A larger facility was needed since there were so many more
and more will be offered. A Legos STEM program is also being R eiki in Denton
youth that want to participate. Character Counts, fi eld trips,
service-learning projects in the community, guest speakers
considered. Petrea Jacqueline, reiki master, M.Div.
Others in the community had voiced a desire to have a place 106 Market Street denton maryland 21629

opportunities, Arts and crafts and computer classes, senior
activities and more.
We envision partnering with local businesses who are inter-
ested in speaking with high school students about employ-
ment opportunities, entry level requirements, expectations
and benefi ts.
We are now looking to the community for fi nancial assistance
to help us cover our mortgage payments. For further informa- Bill & Son Mower Repair
