Ancillary Departments

• Developed protocol with Speech, PT, OT to create guidance for nursing staff on patients recovering from COVID-19 who still require
isolation
• Developed protocol with radiology to ensure that COVID patients receive radiology testing they need
• Developed a process for engaging Encompass Home Health services for in-home nursing, PT, OT, and social work
• Worked with the COPH on rolling out a syndromic surveillance app to nursing home workers and residents

Discharge of COVID – 19 positive patients

• Developed protocol for home O2 delivery and screening by Social Work for at risk coinhabitants
• Developed a process and staffing for 24/7 vital sign monitors for high risk patients at home
• Created protocols for outpatient management of positive patients depending on their risk score for complications
• Created outpatient follow up clinic to combine video visits and in-person visits for COVID positive patients who need follow up

Education of Providers

• Coordinated with GME to establish a protective strategy for non-essential residents and ensure proper PPE education for those without
sufficient 24/7 attending coverage
• Nursing and Physician training protocol regarding code blue situations in COVID units

Medical Student Education

• Developed a rotation for interprofessional students from Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Physicians’ Assistant, and Pharmacy to
participate in video visits of COVID patients
Communication

• Established a standard reporting tool for daily reporting of COVID-19 cases
• Assisted the DOH to have daily dashboard of active cases and new cases
