Millennial
Couples
It’s official: Baby boomers have been surpassed as the greatest generation. Millennials, or
individuals born from approximately 1980- 2000, have exceeded the number of baby
boomers in the U.S. at a whopping 75.4 million (Fry, 2016). They are now at the
forefront of our focus when it comes to understanding
relationships, human development, and the ability to
commit in a consumer-driven society seeking instant gratification.
So what are the critical implications for MFTs to understand about this
population? Why do millennial couples have such high expectations
of their relationships, and how has the rise of technology and social media
impacted the way couples relate to one another in their daily life?
Let’s take a deeper look.
