Since 1995, Mr. Raymond L. Delehant has held the title of emeritus for the board of education in North Haven, Connecticut, where he also holds a permanent teaching certification. But of course, that isn’t where it all started for Mr. Delehant. He prepared for his extensive career by attending Southern Connecticut State
University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1959 and a Master of Science in 1964. Upon earning his undergraduate degree, he accepted a position as a junior high school science teacher in North Haven, Connecticut, where he would go on to work for more than 35 years.
From 1964 to 1972, Mr. Delehant worked part-time as a botany instructor for his alma mater, Southern Connecticut State University. He continued his education with the aid of grants from the National Science Foundation as a postgraduate at multiple universities, including the University of Colorado in 1965, the
