Above: The monument still stands today. In the foreground, “The American Cape,” a 13-foot bronze sculpture of city namesake Alexander Hamilton, dominates the median along High Street. Governor Bob Taft recognized Hamilton as Ohio’s “City of Sculpture” in 2000. More than 40 sculptures are scattered around the city, plus more than 60 in Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park.
