Dayton: Rike’s corner now “the Schu”
Below: The Rike-Kumler Department Store opened at the corner of Second and Main streets in 1912. It was a mainstay in the Dayton community for decades and a regional destination for shoppers in the early part of the 20th century. Rike’s expanded along both Main Street and Second Street until it covered one-half of a city block. Many adults will fondly remember the animatronic displays that graced the elaborate windows during the Christmas holidays.
