is headed in the right direction, it is moving much too slowly in its private sector
development to create the quantity and quality of jobs to accelerate economic
transformation.
Having established that, the chapter then attempted to illustrate that the
sustainable solutions to these macroeconomic constraints actually lie outside the
traditional ‘economics sector’ – emphasizing the interconnected nature of SDGs. For the
UN and development partners supporting the Gambia, this calls for a ‘whole of system
approach’ (both UN and development partners ‘whole of system’) approach that, among
other things increases impact by reducing duplications. Arguably, this necessarily also
motivates for a systems thinking approach that aims at enhancing impact and has co-
creation as one of the core objectives.
