Golden Tickets Aren’t Just for
Steaks (or chocolate) Anymore
When Ken & Brett announced an- cillary winners are now receiving a Golden Ticket, a collective cheer went out across the country. I’m as excited as all the kids around the world were when Willie Wonka announced his Golden Ticket contest. Looking back over the past year there has been more buzz around the ancillaries than ever before. Coupled with the cre- ativity of our promoters, 2021 is going to be a thrilling year for the ancillaries. It will be exciting to watch the winners at the events receive their own Golden Ticket marking their invitation to
Ft. Worth, TX for the 2022 World Championship.
Although, there has been a point chase each year signi- fying a winner, this year we will be marching to Texas for an Ancillary Cookoff Cham- pionship. At each contest we will recognize the Top 5 (in- stead of the top 3) for points. Promotors are not only en- couraged to continue to be creative with their ancillaries but also put more prize money towards them. One contest has already taken on the challenge by offering the winner $300 (and paying out the top 5). With this expect to pay more to enter some contests.
There have been other rule changes as well with this category. As Brett & Ken also mentioned on SCA-TV January 7th, mixed drink rules have been separated from the other ancillary categories due to the differences to execute them properly. World Championships
As you are reading this, the World Championships are about one
month away. The manage- ment at the River Ranch in Ft. Worth tell us all systems are a go when it comes to holding our annual event. Cooks from all over the world will con- verge here to cook their best steak and crown a world champion. We will also wit- ness for the first time, the championship ring being given to a female steak cook. When Sandy Brown walks across the stage she will be making history. Along with her husband, Tim, who fin- ished second, they will be the first wife and husband to fin- ish in the top two spots. Con- gratulations Sandy and Tim Brown on your historical milestone.
