The IG Charcoal Grill is a head
turner if you are in the hot and
fast charcoal grill market. This
grill comes covered in stainless
steel and also offers a ton of
useful features. An adjustable
charcoal rack that can be raised
or lowered, a large 16 x 30-inch
cooking surface, lockable
wheels, and fold down side shelves are just a few of our favorite features.
Our tests of the grill proved that it could serve as a hot and fast searing unit or indirect grilling master. The ability to control the distance between fire and food makes it a very versatile grill. We tested some pork steaks using a modified reverse sear technique and ended up with fantastic results. We started in an indirect mode and finished them with a direct sear.
Another added feature we loved about this grill was the gener-

ously sized tabletop wings that folded out to help hold our grilling tools and seasonings. These mini tables fold down to decrease the footprint of the grill when not needed or being stored.
This grill is available from Amazon for only $450, where compara- ble units average for around $1000. The unit is set to be very portable as the legs and bottom storage rack are held into place by the weight of the grill itself. Our only recommendation would be to a simple pull pin on the legs without wheels. We had no is- sues rolling it around on our concrete pad as long as we held those legs up and kept them from dragging the ground.

 Magnechef BBQ Gloves
Sometimes the simplest changes can make a handy product be- come a necessity. We have experienced this improvement process with the MagneChef BBQ Gloves. Truth is these high heat resist- ant gloves are without a doubt a barbecuer's best friend, but they can also become a pain to keep clean or sanitary. Firefighter Al- fredo Infante has patented a few changes to the usual BBQ glove to make it extraordinary.
The MagneChef BBQ Gloves feature a swivel magnet catch that joins the gloves together at the cuff that improves putting on and taking off the gloves a much easier process. The thick silicone gloves also do not have a cloth lining, which makes cleaning them much more manageable. We also think there will be less mold de- velopment inside the gloves because the inside can dry com- pletely. The magnet can also help in the drying process as it helps
keep the glove open and turned in the correct direction while drying.
The fingers of the glove are webbed to-
gether, which looks odd but increases
the gripping ability of moist and greasy
items on or around the pit. Our tests
showed proved they can indeed with-
stand temperatures of 450 degrees for
short periods. We pulled pork butts that
were over 200 degrees for almost 20 minutes straight without having to stop due to excessive heat build-up. We also flipped steaks on the grill without feeling any heat on our bare hands.
We learned the hard way to keep surfaces that the gloves contact super clean. The surface of the gloves are incredibly tacky and will pick up surface dust, sand, or seasonings they contact. A super quick rinse with water proved as a useful eraser of our mistake. Overall this "tacky" feature was a significant factor by enabling us to pick up almost any item without having to remove the gloves.
We made these gloves a must around all of our pits and grills be- cause of their effectiveness at deflecting heat and ease of use. The gloves retail for $39.99 and come in a variety of colors.
