Drug use a ects 70% of US workplaces: Study
Seventy percent of U.S. employers say drug use among employees has impacted their business, but only 19% of them have comprehensive workplace drug policies in force, according to a survey by the Na onal Safety Council.
What should an employer do?
• Review your state’s laws on discrimina on against marijuana users. Make sure your policies are consistent with state an - discrimina on statutes.
• Con nue to comply with federal regula ons.
• Review your drug-use and drug-tes ng policies to ensure they
clearly explain your expecta ons regarding impairment, marijuana use outside of company me, and drug tes ng.
• Make sure you are prepared to consistently follow your stated procedures.
• As part of your review, ar culate whether you wish to ban all employee drug use or merely impairment.
