Early Professional SIG Report
Kelsey Biller PT PT DPT - Chair The Early Professional Special Interest Group targets OPTA members 0-5 years post-graduation from PT/PTA programs Our dynamic team has been hard at work developing the group's core pillars — Mentorship Membership and Leadership Our Mentor Pillar Leader Kayla Harris has worked with the APTA Centennial Scholar for Ohio Caroline Brunst to to revamp our mentorship program With the OPTA Office Kayla is leading our team in in in executing a a a three-tiered mentorship program centered around the Early Professional Professional A A "Professional Plus" OPTA member engages in mentorship with an Early Professional who then mentors a a current student This program will provide not only the early professional additional mentorship but also an opportunity to to be a a leader to to our students Our hope is is that this grows our Early Professionals in skill sets but also our organization Courtney Griffith our our Membership Pillar Leader continues to develop the EPSIG's social media presence facilitate improvements in ease of access to to the EPSIG to to our members recruitment of new members through leading our district representatives Access to and awareness of the EPSIG are barriers that she has led us in beginning to overcome Alex Rospert our Leadership Pillar Leader Leader has been hard at work developing leadership opportunities by kicking off a a leadership book club enhancing the early professional experience at Transform through his involvement on the Conference Committee by developing an Early Professional track He is also working to create more opportunities for early professional leadership growth Our District Representatives have been working tirelessly to enhance the involvement and accessibility of the EP SIG to members in this pivotal career position to to make the transition from student to to seasoned clinician a a a supported positive experience Colton Rhinebolt (NW) Nick Eberhardt (NE) Anna Lyndt (SW) Mary Montalto (Central) and Jasc Romeo (EC) are not only involved in in in in facilitating change in in in in the EPSIG but are also engaged on the district level and with the the the schools in their districts Colton also served as the the the Centennial Ambassador for the OPTA We are looking for members to engage in in our programs join join our leaders on committees and join join our network The best way to to find out more is to to check out the website: www ohiopt org/page/EarlyProfSIG for details on how to sign up up This group is is FREE with OPTA membership Engage with us on social media!
