Since March of 2020, therapy clinicians have all been doing our best to keep up with the CDC changes related to the pandemic. Each facility has also had to move at warp speed to update its policies and procedures related to infection control, human resources, and PPE supply chain, as examples. With all the changes, have you been able to keep up with coding and billing in 2020?
In home health, effective January 1 of 2020, PTAs could also begin treating maintenance patients. It wasn’t until later in the year that CMS realized they forgot to develop a billing code!
In outpatient, there were numerous changes as outlined in the tables below:
