Northeast District Report Jeffrey Swiers, PT, DPT - Chair
The Northeast District has had a busy 2018! The district continues to develop and grow and has offered many different opportunities to get involved including hosting two successful PT Pub Nights where students, PTs and PTAs were able to network and have a great time, a Cleveland Indians Fun night, and two CEU events. We have continued to reach out to schools to present the benefits of belonging in an effort to connect to new students from PT and PTA schools and invite them to the Northeast District.
The Northeast District has also held two successful CEU events: The first was an excellent presentation titled, “High Intensity Aerobic Exercise Enhances Function in Parkinson’s Disease.” This presentation was engaging and invited great discussion. The second CEU was held in June and was an OPTA/APTA Legislative Update. This was
a great update to members of the district to see what changes have been happening and will be occurring moving forward and what charges were going to be brought about at the APTA House
of Delegates. These updates are always fun and allow members and students an opportunity to grow, learn, and understand the payment, policy, and political side of this profession.
In addition to PT Pub night and the CEU events, the Northeast District also hosted a Night Out with the Cleveland Indians where members, students, PTs, and PTAs were able to get together and watch a great baseball game. The Northeast District has many events coming up this year including the CEU event August 28, 2018 and will be hosting our Annual Marilyn Mount Case Report Night at the end of the year.
We invite you to join us for our upcoming events which include dates and times on the OPTA website, emails, our Facebook page at Northeast District OPTA on Twitter at: @NE_PT_Ohio and through our Google Calendar through the Northeast District OPTA.

In May, we wrapped up the series with a presentation by Angie Huber, PT, MPT, OCS entitled “Physical Therapy for Recreational Runners: From Start to Finish Line.”
