Central District Report Daniel Chelette, PT, DPT – Chair
Hello OPTA Members! My name is Daniel Chelette and I am the new Chair of the Central District. I am
taking over for Kyle Schumm, who has done great work as the long-time leader of the Central District. His leadership, passion and humor will surely be missed. As I step into this role, I am excited by the opportunities my team and I will have to serve the members of the Central District, and of the OPTA in its entirety.
In the coming months, the Central District Leadership team will focus our efforts on membership engagement: establishing opportunities and forums for our members to come to us regarding their needs, concerns, ideas, and thoughts on how we as the professional organization can best serve them in impactful ways. We will work to improve transparency of what is going on at the local, state, and national levels through quarterly video updates to be posted on all social media platforms. We will also pursue the establishment of “digital suggestion boxes” and discussion boards that will serve as platforms for our members to voice questions, comments, concerns, and ideas. In the same vein, we will plan
East Central District Report Jeff Hohl, PT. DPT, OCS - Chair
Hi everyone! I hope the year thus far has treated you well!
We have had an eventful 2018. The East Central District hosted a legislative hot-topics discussion May 24 and then gathered for our Second Annual PAC Fundraiser on August 24. We filled up a suite and enjoyed fireworks to raise funds. Thanks for supporting the PAC!
We have our 1st Annual Student Symposium at Youngstown State University on November 6,
West Central District Report Heather Stoner, PTA – Chair
West Central District would like to congratulate all the recent PT and PTA graduates for completing your programs and passing your board exams. You have worked so hard to put those letters after your names! The West Central District is here to help you as you embark upon your career.
West Central District has many events coming up in the last half of the year. We have several CEU presentations, a PAC event, and we will be hosting our 3rd Annual Wheelchair Costume Clinic for PT
to host one to two town hall meetings per calendar year, at which any member of the district can come forth and have a live platform to speak to the board and present members. We will improve our presence and visibility
in the community through increased involvement in community events and service.
These ideas will take time, effort, and engagement
to achieve success. As a district board, our goal is
for our members to gain greater confidence in and understanding of how our professional organizational, at all levels, is integral to the continued growth and sustainability of our profession We expect the remainder of 2018 and 2019 to provide numerous opportunities to pursue and achieve this goal.
