A Note from the Executive Director Victoria Gresh, CAE
TURNING THE PAGE
As I celebrate my 10-year anniversary with OPTA, it seems like the perfect time to honor the past and embrace the future. Smart organizations aren’t afraid to pull out the microscope and take a critical look at what’s on the slide. That’s truly what I love about working at OPTA.
ACCESS MAGAZINE
We bid a fond farewell to our semi-annual publication. Changing communication strategies coupled with increased production costs necessitated the end of this OPTA staple. We live in a time of instant communication and gratification and the inefficiencies of a traditional layout publication were not meeting our members’ needs. We will continue to provide real time information to our members and explore other vehicles to showcase the outstanding work of our leadership team, committees, SIGs and members.
FINDING CONNECTIONS
Since January, the OPTA leadership team has been diving deep into ALL of the organization’s programs, services and evaluating our offerings in four key areas:
COMMITTEES – Serve a specific function within the organization
LEADERSHIP ADVANCEMENT – Help expand the capacity of individuals to perform leadership roles within the organization
COMMUNITIES – Provide for shared interest in advancing a specific area of knowledge
RESOURCES – Source of information, expertise and support
The board is taking a close look at what the Ohio Chapter does well, what needs improvement, and what can be sunset (ACCESS) as we move forward. A few key outcomes from the meeting:
• Our Lunch & Learn online programming is a top performer and a prime
member product
• The Ohio Chapter is financially stable and thriving despite recent challenges
• Growth of our Early Professional membership is key to chapter and profession sustainability
• Communication of a member value proposition is essential for chapter advancement
When I joined the OPTA family in 2012 I thought I may stay a few years and then move on to my next opportunity. A decade later I cannot imagine being anywhere else than here on this incredible journey with you. We’ll celebrate again in 2032!
