DISTRICT REPORTS
Northeast District Report Jeff Swiers, PT, DPT, OCS, C-OMPT – Chair
Happy New Year members of the Northeast District and the OPTA! We are looking forward to a successful and fun 2020!
The Northeast District had a great ending to the 2019 year . We have continued to grow as a district, and as such, we would like to introduce some
new Board members: as Education Coordinator, Safa Abuamsha, PTA; as State Affairs Coordinator, Steven Becka, PTA; and as Membership Coordinator, Nick Eberhardt, PT, DPT . We as a district would also like to thank our outgoing board members: Jenny Smith, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS; Damian Keter, PT, DPT, OCS; Kevin Brochetti, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT; Liz Marshall, PT, DPT; and Alexa Bosanac, PT, DPT .
We had a very successful end of 2019 with our final PT Pub Night of the year at Townhall in November . This was a great night that was well attended with many area clinicians and students from local PT and PTA schools!
Finally, the Northeast District held our Annual Marilyn Mount Case Report Night on Dec . 3 . We had around 150 members, non-members, and PT/PTA students attend this event . We tried a new format for this event using two separate rooms due to our increased amount of submissions! This gave this night a more Combined Sections Meeting vibe and is something we will continue to explore in the future . We had 12 excellent presenters and multiple excellent poster presentations from all aspects of physical therapy care. This event was also our PAC raffle. We had excellent prizes and we were able to have a TV as well for this event . Congratulations to Trent Best, PT, DPT, OCS on winning this prize!
New for 2020, the Northeast District will be hosting multiple CEU events, our Annual Cleveland Indians night out with the Indians, and of course in December, our Annual Marilyn Mount Case Report Night . We have other events that will be going on throughout next year, and we encourage you as members to come out to any of our events and to our District Meetings! We are also in the process of setting up a Northeast District Instagram account, which will be up and active early in 2020 .
