Northwest District Report Sara Burke, PT, DPT – Chair
Greetings! I’d like to introduce myself as the new Northwest District Chair . I’m excited to get busy and look forward to planning exciting events for the district and meeting the great OPTA members residing in northwest Ohio!
The CE Committee for the NW District aims to foster high quality, stimulating learning experiences that will help therapists transform their communities .
Here’s a snapshot of our 2019 district events:

Cory Mansfield, PT, DPT, OCS gave us an update on dry needling research from his perspective as a PhD candidate and clinical specialist at Ohio State University. Dr. Mansfield is very active with the OPTA and APTA and got us excited about the future of PT clinical research .

Roger Kruse, MD presented on the state of Regenerative Medicine and how physical therapists can be involved in the rehab process . Dr . Kruse is an internationally known sports physician and continues to treat athletes and non-athletes in the Toledo area .

Zach Weber, ABC Certified Prosthetist and licensed prosthetist presented on advanced assessment for prosthetic limbs . He and two of his clients also shared their experiences with early rehab, return to daily living, and even getting back to CrossFit!

Melissa Burner had her diagnosis of Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome while she was in school training to be an orthotist and prosthetist . She shared an update on the evidence for diagnosis and management of EDS as well as her unique perspective living with the disease .
